ScreenVue is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

ScreenVue first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, digital, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes playing just a few seconds of a movie all the way up to showing the full-length feature.

Each *Total Producer Church Video License* (or any *Church Video Licence* globally) comes with free ScreenVue Vault access.

The ScreenVue Vault offers 14,000+ Scene Ideas, Views and Downloads from a variety of movies and resources.

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for 600,000+ songs and 7,000+ publishers and song owners. Currently, global churches are using 600,000+ CCLI licenses.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show all, or any portion of, thousands of movie titles from a number of movie producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from 3,000+ producers are represented by the Church Video License, including the titles that contain all the scenes that are part of the ScreenVue Vault.

## How We Use Cookies

__"Where can I find my Access Key to sign-in with?"__
- Every Church Video Licence globally and every *Total Producer Church Video License* (or *Standard CVLI Video License*) in the USA comes with FREE access to the ScreenVue Vault, which is unlocked with your Access Key. Your Access Key will be included in the monthly CVL update emails you receive. If you can't find your Key, please email us at: [support@screenvue.com ](mailto:support@screenvue.com "support@screenvue.com")

__"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

__"In the USA, why don't I have access as a CVL Family Values Package member?"__
- The *CVL Family Values Package* offers only 65+ studios and producers, and does not include any major/minor Hollywood studios - and does not come with ScreenVue Vault access. 
- The *CVL Total Producer Package* offers 4,000+ studios and producers, including every major Hollywood studio and most of the major/minors, and comes with complimentary access to the new ScreenVue Vault: unlocked with a provided Access Key.

__"What is the difference between Scene Ideas, Scene Views, and Scene Downloads?"__
- The ScreenVue Vault offers THREE different types of Scenes:

__"What are the restrictions for streaming our service and including a movie scene? "__
- For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie (the entire film or just a scene), the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming a movie scene - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream a movie scene inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly).

The Americans are fighting the Japanese at Okinawa.  The battle is intense.  The air is filled with smoke and flames.  Chaos is everywhere as men are blown off their feet by explosions.  Desmond narrates from Isaiah chapter 40: "Have you not heard?  The Lord is the everlasting God, Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary and His understanding no one can fathom."  Soldiers, their uniforms on fire, run, helpless to quench their misery.  Men with guns point them at one another.  Desmond continues: "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall.  But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength."  Now it is Desmond lying on a stretcher, his leg torn apart by a grenade.  He looks around, seeing the terrors of war all around, but his voice continues to narrate: "They will soar on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary.  They will walk and not be faint."  As Desmond rests his head back against the stretcher, he sees the face of the soldier who is carrying him: "Hang on, Desmond!  We're gonna get you out of here."  (Caution: scene of war)

Tom arrives home to find his two young boys fighting on the front lawn.  Ignoring their brawling, Tom settles down on the porch to watch.  As the boys punch and tackle one another violently, Tom does no more than advise them on their blows.  Bertha, exasperated, finally comes outside, intent on stopping the fight.  Before she can, however, Desmond picks up a brick and bashes Hal on the side of the head.  Hal drops to the ground, unconscious.  Desmond is immediately aware that he has crossed a line.  While his parents scoop up Hal, carrying him into the house, and try to revive him, Desmond slowly walks inside.  His eyes are wide with remorse and his breath is coming in shallow gasps.  He stares at his brother's bruised and bloodied face, seeing that he is not responding to his mother's ministrations.  He continues walking into the parlor, like someone in a dream.  He approaches a framed picture of the Ten Commandments and stares at it in horror.  His eyes fall on a picture of Cain killing Abel and reads: "Thou shalt not kill."  His father approaches, carrying a belt, promising Desmond the punishment he deserves.  But Desmond hardly hears him, feeling the weight of the conviction of his sin.  His mother intervenes, preventing his father from executing the promised beating.  She kneels next to her son, telling him that his brother will be fine.  When Desmond only continues to stare at the commandment, Bertha takes his chin gently in her hand, turning his face toward hers.  Desmond finally speaks: "I could have killed him."  Bertha: "Yes, you could have.  Murder, it's the worst sin of all.  And to take another man's life, that is the most egregious sin in the Lord's sight.  Nothing hurts His heart so much."  (Caution: h-word used)

Desmond is sitting on his bunk, reading his Bible, when Smitty approaches and rips it out of his hands.  In full view of the rest of the unit, Smitty begins to mock Desmond's pacifist beliefs.  Smitty, angrily: "So, how come you don't fight?  You think you're better than us?"  Desmond, simply: "No."  Smitty: "What if you was attacked?"  Before Desmond has a chance to answer, Smitty strikes him hard, on the cheek: "See, like that?  The Bible says to turn the other cheek, don't it?"  Desmond stares at him in silence.  Smitty: "See, I don't think this is a question of religion, fellas.  I think this is cowardice, plain and simple."  Smitty taunts Desmond, urging him to strike back.  Putting his face within striking distance, Smitty puts his own hands behind his back: "Tell you what?  I'm gonna give you a free shot.  Hit me, Doss.  Go on."  Some of the others urge Desmond to hit Smitty.  Desmond just looks at Smitty in silence.  Smitty, seeing his offer is rejected: "No?"  Desmond shakes his head.  Smitty turns away in disgust.  (Caution: s-word used)

Desmond is being interviewed by an Army psychologist because of his faith in God and his pacifist views.  (His commanding officers would like to certify him insane in order to remove him from service.)  Psychologist: "Do you hear voices, Desmond?"  Desmond: "No, sir."  Psychologist: "But I understand that God talks to you, is that right?"  Desmond: "Sir, I'm not a crazy person."  The psychologist next asks several leading questions, seemingly hoping to trap Desmond into proving his insanity.  But Desmond, fully sane, won't be baited.  Psychologist, again: "So, you don't hear voices?"  Desmond: "No, sir.  I pray to God and I like to think He hears me, but it ain't a conversation."  Desmond tells the doctor he is aware of the Army's intentions: "I'm not off up above.  I just simply believe what I believe."  Psychologist: "Was it God who told you not to pick up a rifle?"  Desmond: "God says not to kill.  That's one of His most important commandments."  Psychologist: "Most people take that to mean, 'Don't commit murder.'  War is a completely different set of circumstances."  Desmond: "Jesus said, 'A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another just as I have loved you.'"  Psychologist, switching tactics: "This is Satan himself we are fighting.  Surely, as a good Christian, you can see that?"  Desmond, firmly: "I can see that, sir.  And that is why I joined up.  But I'm sorry, I will not bear arms."

Desmond's unit has just arrived in Okinawa.  Fresh out of training, the new recruits joke and sing as they march, unaware of the realities of war all around them.  Ahead on the road, a tank escorting several trucks appears, and the soldiers are ordered to clear a path for the vehicles to drive through.  As the trucks approach and their cargo is seen, the soldiers are immediately sobered.  The beds of the trucks are piled high with the bodies of fallen American soldiers.  Occasional faces peek out of the mass of human forms, revealing young men cut down before their lives really began.  Desmond removes his helmet, and many others follow suit, watching the death train rattle away from the battlefield.  A truck filled with the remains of the living follows behind.  Soldiers with glazed eyes and blackened faces look like they have lived through a nightmare and are waiting to wake up.  Captain Glover tells his men that they are what is left of the 96th unit: "These are the guys we're replacing."  (Caution: scene may disturb some viewers)

Desmond's unit, overwhelmed by Japanese ground forces, is ordered to retreat off the ridge while the navy engages in an air strike.  Captain Glover leads his men down the rope ladder and over the cliff while the shells begin to rain down on the ridge.  Explosions are everywhere and the men hurry to get to safety.  Desmond, however, stays behind.  He kneels over the body of his fallen friend, tears filling his eyes.  Explosions tear through the air behind him and balls of fire consume the battlefield where only minutes before a terrible hand-to-hand battle had unfolded.  Desmond knows that many of his fallen comrades have been left behind in order to allow the artillery blast to push back the Japanese foot soldiers.  His heart breaks for their suffering, but his orders are to retreat.  Now completely alone, he looks back at the flaming battlefield.  He weeps openly, crying out to God for direction: "What is it You want of me?  I don't understand.  I can't hear You!"  As if in answer, in the next instant, he hears an audible voice: "Medic!  Help me!  Help me!"  He looks back at the flaming battlefield, knowing a wounded soldier somewhere in the smoke is desperate for help.  Desmond takes a deep breath, knowing now what God is calling him to do, but also knowing that to return is to face probable death.  The man screams again: "Help me, Lord!"  Desmond answers his Lord's call aloud: "All right."  Putting on his helmet, he runs back to the battlefield, bombs striking the ground all around him.

Desmond is hiding in a Japanese stronghold, a fort deep underground.  He creeps stealthily through the tunnels, trying to elude the enemy soldiers that are all around him.  The sound of approaching voices warns Desmond, and he quickly hides around a corner.  When the soldiers pass, he suddenly realizes he is not alone in the room.  A wounded and terrified Japanese soldier is propped up against the wall, breathing heavily.  Desmond approaches the man in concern, eyeing his wound.  The terrified man initially tries to fight him away, putting up bloodied hands to fend him off.  But Desmond speaks gently, trying to get the man to understand he means him good and not harm.  As he places his hands on the man's shoulders and speaks words of care, the man calms down.  Desmond reaches into his pocket and pulls out a roll of gauze, directing the man to hold it against his wound.  The man complies, but looks at Desmond with eyes of amazement.  Desmond next pulls a vial of morphine from his pocket and shows it to the man, wanting him to see it is medicine.  He administers the dose and almost immediate relief shows on the sufferer's face.  Desmond looks into his eyes and smiles.

Desmond, having made the choice to stay on the battlefield and rescue his fallen comrades (see scene #CV09207), has spent hours scouring the danger zone, dragging the wounded to the ridge, and lowering them by hand down the cliff.  His hands bloodied and raw, and his body numb from exertion and stress, he prays each time for the strength to rescue just one more man: "Please, Lord, help me get one more."  He stumbles back to the field, checking bodies for signs of life.  Finding another, he hauls them onto his back and returns to the cliff.  Lowering them down, he repeats his prayer: "Please, help me get one more."  Crawling on his chest across the dark landscape, hoping to avoid the notice of the Japanese, he seeks out the lost and saves them.  Again and again and again.  And, when he feels he can do no more, he prays for strength and does it again.  Men who were abandoned, who had long since given up hope, are found and rescued out of the darkness.  Desmond even saves several Japanese wounded, putting his own life on the line to help his enemies.

Captain Glover approaches Desmond, who is sitting on the ground, reading his Bible.  Glover, one of Desmond's harshest critics, has completely reversed his opinion of the boy after watching his relentless courage in battle.  He has come to apologize: "All I saw was a skinny kid.  I didn't know who you were.  You've done more than any other man could have done in the service of his country.  And I have never been more wrong about someone in my life.  I hope one day you can forgive me."  Desmond smiles his forgiveness.  Glover kneels next to the boy: "I realize that tomorrow is your Sabbath.  Most of these men don't believe the same way you do.  But they believe so much in how much you believe.  What you did on that ridge is nothing short of a miracle, and they want a piece of it.  And they're not gonna go up there without you."  Desmond is silent, considering.  Later, the soldiers in Desmond's unit are lined up at the bottom of the ridge, waiting in silence.  Cooney radios Glover: "What the h--l is your delay!"  Glover: "We're waiting, sir."  Cooney, yelling: "Waiting for what?"  Glover: "For Private Doss to finish praying for us, sir."  Off to the side, Desmond stands with his Bible, head bowed.  All the men are watching him, inspired by his faith.  When Desmond finishes and puts his Bible in his pocket, Glover gives the order to proceed.  The soldiers, accompanied by Desmond, run toward the battle.  (Caution: h-word used)
