ScreenVue is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

ScreenVue first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, digital, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes playing just a few seconds of a movie all the way up to showing the full-length feature.

Each *Total Producer Church Video License* (or any *Church Video Licence* globally) comes with free ScreenVue Vault access.

The ScreenVue Vault offers 14,000+ Scene Ideas, Views and Downloads from a variety of movies and resources.

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for 600,000+ songs and 7,000+ publishers and song owners. Currently, global churches are using 600,000+ CCLI licenses.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show all, or any portion of, thousands of movie titles from a number of movie producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from 3,000+ producers are represented by the Church Video License, including the titles that contain all the scenes that are part of the ScreenVue Vault.

Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC) was founded in 1986 by former MGM executives and an MPAA attorney. Their goal was to develop a process to help the public leverage the work of the creative community without infringing on copyright.

## How We Use Cookies

__"Where can I find my Access Key to sign-in with?"__
- Every Church Video Licence globally and every *Total Producer Church Video License* (or *Standard CVLI Video License*) in the USA comes with FREE access to the ScreenVue Vault, which is unlocked with your Access Key. Your Access Key will be included in the monthly CVL update emails you receive. If you can't find your Key, please email us at: [support@screenvue.com ](mailto:support@screenvue.com "support@screenvue.com")

__"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

__"In the USA, why don't I have access as a CVL Family Values Package member?"__
- The *CVL Family Values Package* offers only 65+ studios and producers, and does not include any major/minor Hollywood studios - and does not come with ScreenVue Vault access. 
- The *CVL Total Producer Package* offers 4,000+ studios and producers, including every major Hollywood studio and most of the major/minors, and comes with complimentary access to the new ScreenVue Vault: unlocked with a provided Access Key.

__"What is the difference between Scene Ideas, Scene Views, and Scene Downloads?"__
- The ScreenVue Vault offers THREE different types of Scenes:

__"What are the restrictions for streaming our service and including a movie scene? "__
- For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie (the entire film or just a scene), the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming a movie scene - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream a movie scene inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly).

It is the year 1815 and hundreds of convicted prisoners are serving a life of hard labor in the French docks.  Under the barrage of violent waves, the weary men are tasked with pulling a giant ship into dock by the strength of their arms.  Lined up along long ropes attached to the ship, the chained men pull and grunt with all their might, while Inspector Javert coldly looks down from above.  The men, many of them in prison for such minor offences as stealing bread for their starving families, are serving long, hard sentences.  While they struggle, they sing of the hopelessness of their existence: ♪ "Look down, look down, you're here until you die.  No God above.  And hell alone below.  Look down, look down.  There's 20 years to go." ♪  One convict begs God for help: ♪ "I've done no wrong.  Sweet Jesus, hear my prayer!" ♪  His fellow prisoners believe God is absent in their suffering: ♪ "Look down, look down, Sweet Jesus doesn't care." ♪ The men, having finished their back-breaking task, file slowly back toward their prison: ♪ "Look down, look down.  You'll always be a slave.  Look down, look down.  You're standing in your grave." ♪

Inspector Javert gives Jean Valjean the papers for his parole.  Javert: ♪ "You know what that means?" ♪  Valjean, feeling the first hope he's felt in his 19 year sentence: ♪ "Yes.  It means I'm free." ♪  Javert tells Valjean he will never be free, never cleansed from his past.  Valjean's papers will always show that he is a convicted criminal: ♪ "This badge of shame, you'll show it 'til you die.  It warns you're a dangerous man." ♪  Valjean, protesting: ♪ "I stole a loaf of bread!" ♪  Javert, the epitome of the law, cares nothing for the nature of Valjean's crime, or that his motives were to save his starving niece.  Javert: ♪ "You will starve again, unless you learn the meaning of the law." ♪  Valjean: ♪ "A slave of the law!" ♪

Jean Valjean has just been released from a 19-year prison sentence.  Roaming the countryside, he is looking for work, but no one wants to hire a convicted criminal.  He approaches a man, asking for a job.  The man asks to see his papers, which show Valjean's criminal status: "No work here."  Valjean nods, moving on.  Later, at his parole hearing, an official tells him that he is marked for life: "As a dangerous man, you will be on parole forever."  As Valjean takes his papers and walks away, the official orders an officer to follow him and watch his movements.  At the next town, children throw rocks at Valjean until he frightens them away.  He goes to an inn, hoping to secure food and a warm fire.  But when the innkeeper asks to see Valjean's papers, Valjean knows he will find no rest there: "I'll sleep in the stable.  Please, I'm hungry."  Innkeeper: "Get out."  The patrons of the inn watch him fearfully.  In an alley outside, several men brutally beat him.  Finally, he wanders away as it begins to snow.

After many unsuccessful attempts at finding food, work, and shelter, Jean Valjean lies down on the ground outside a church to sleep.  A priest comes upon him and invites him in for food and a night's shelter.  Showing Valjean inside, the priest watches as the cold man rushes toward the fire to warm his hands.  Valjean looks hungrily towards the table, where several women watch him, frightened at his fierce and bedraggled appearance.  They serve him food, and Valjean immediately begins to gobble it down.  Hardly pausing as the priest begins to pray, Valjean stops chewing his food, stunned, when the priest prays for God to bless "our honored guest."  So used to being scorned and literally spit on, Valjean doesn't know how to respond to such kindness.  He continues eating.  Later, he is lying in bed, looking up at a mural of Christ on the ceiling.  He sighs, deliberately turning away from the image, knowing what he is about to do.  Sneaking into the bedroom of the priest, he fills a bag with silver and runs out of the church.

Officers drag Jean Valjean into the church, throwing him down on the floor.  Accusing him of stealing silver from the church, they hand the bag of loot to the priest: "He had the nerve to say you gave him this."  The priest smiles down on the kneeling Valjean, who did, indeed, steal the silver (see Scene # CV06222): ♪ "That is right.  But, my friend, you left so early, surely something slipped your mind." ♪  Everyone in the room, Valjean included, watches with open mouths as the priest walks to the table and picks up two silver candlesticks: ♪ "You forgot I gave these also.  Would you leave the best behind?" ♪  The priest hands the candlesticks to Valjean, ordering the officers to release him.  Valjean sits, stunned, as the officers release him from his chains.  The priest turns to Valjean, kneeling to look him in the eye: ♪ "But remember this, my brother.  See in this some higher plan.  You must use this precious silver to become an honest man.  By the witness of the martyrs, by the passion and the blood, God has raised you out of darkness.  I have saved your soul for God." ♪  The priest lifts Valjean to his feet, puts his hand on the man's head, and blesses him.

Staring at the papers condemning him as a convicted criminal, Jean Valjean sits near a statue of Christ on the cross, wrestling with the mercy just shown him by a compassionate priest (see Scene # CV06223).  He kneels before the altar, confessing to God his sin: ♪ "What have I done?  Sweet Jesus, what have I done?  Become a thief in the night.  Become a dog on the run.  Have I fallen so far, and is the hour so late, that nothing remains but the cry of my hate?" ♪  He stands, still wanting to hold onto the anger at his jailers for two decades spent paying for the theft of a loaf of bread.  Suddenly, his anger fades as he remembers the mercy of the priest who forgave his much greater theft: ♪ "Yet why did I allow this man to touch my soul and teach me love?  He treated me like any other.  He gave me his trust and called me brother.  My life he claims for God above.  Can such things be?  For I had come to hate the world, this world that always hated me!" ♪  Valjean remembers his anger, not wanting to forgive, and turns away from the altar: ♪ "Take an eye for an eye!  Turn your heart into stone!  This is all I have lived for!  This is all I have known!" ♪  Valjean begins walking quickly away, afraid to live without his hate.  He stops, putting his head in his hands and crying.  He remembers how the priest could have sent him to prison, but gave him freedom instead: ♪ "I feel my shame inside me like a knife." ♪  Valjean walks back to the altar, sobbing: ♪ "He told me that I had a soul.  How does he know?  What spirit comes to move my life?" ♪  Valjean drops to his knees, asking God: ♪ "Is there another way to go?" ♪  Tears stream down Valjean's face as he acknowledges his desperate need for salvation: ♪ "As I stare into the void, to the whirlpool of my sin, I'll escape now from that world.  From the world of Jean Valjean." ♪  He begins to tear up the papers identifying him as criminal, shouting: "Jean Valjean is nothing now!  Another story must begin!" ♪  He runs outside the church, throwing the bits of paper into the air, where they are taken up by the wind and carried towards the sun.

Cholera has struck the city of Paris, and the poor are dying en masse.  Inspector Javert rides through crowds of helpless poor, turning a cold eye to their suffering.  A cripple limps down a dark alley.  A sobbing mother hands the shrouded body of her dead baby to an undertaker, who carries away a wagon full of similarly-shrouded bodies.  Hundreds of the poor, their faces disfigured by disease and starvation, are gathered at a gate, begging for help and receiving none.  They cry out to be heard, to be helped: ♪ "At the end of the day, you're another day older.  And that's all you can say for the life of the poor.  It's a struggle.  It's a war.  And there's nothing that anyone's giving.  One more day standing about, what is it for?  One day less to be living.  At the end of the day, you're another day colder.  And the shirt on your back doesn't keep out the chill.  And the righteous hurry past.  They don't hear the little ones crying.  And the plague is coming on fast, ready to kill." ♪

Desperate for money to save her starving child, Fantine has just given her body to a man for money.  Brokenhearted, she mourns the loss of her dreams.  ♪  "I dreamed a dream in time gone by, when hope was high and life worth living.  I dreamed that love would never die.  I dreamed that God would be forgiving." ♪  Fantine weeps, feeling now that her dreams are lost, her life over: ♪ "But the tigers come at night.  With their voices soft as thunder.  As they tear your hope apart.  As they turn your dream to shame." ♪  The full realization of what she's just done hits Fantine, and she sobs, covering her face with her hands.  She remembers back to the happiest time of her life, her first love, who later abandoned her with a child.  Even that abandonment didn't kill Fantine's dreams like her shame has: ♪ "But there are dreams that cannot be.  And there are storms we cannot weather.  I had a dream my life would be...so different from this hell I'm living.  Now life has killed the dream." ♪

Jean Valjean has spent years eluding his parole officer, Inspector Javert.  Now, Javert has just revealed that another man has been imprisoned as Jean Valjean, and Valjean sighs in relief.  Valjean, imagining a life without running: ♪ "This stranger that they found could be my second chance.  Why should I save his hide?  Why should I right this wrong?  When I have come so far and struggled for so long." ♪  Valjean voices aloud the choice before him: ♪ "If I speak, I am condemned.  If I stay silent, I am damned." ♪  Valjean tries to rationalize the lie, reminding himself of all the people whose livelihoods depend on him.  But he cannot escape the fact that his lie is a sin against God.  He kneels to pray in front of a small cross, singing: ♪ "Who am I?  Can I condemn this man to slavery?  Pretend I do not feel his agony?  This innocent who bears my face, who goes to judgment in my place?  Must I lie?  How can I ever face my fellow men?  How can I ever face myself again?  My soul belongs to God, I know.  I made that bargain long ago.  He gave me hope when hope was gone.  He gave me strength to journey on!" ♪  Remembering God's salvation, Valjean is decided.  He begins to organize his personal effects, ready to admit his identity: ♪ "Who am I?  Who am I?  I'm Jean Valjean." ♪  Racing to the courthouse, he interrupts his look-alike's trial.  Standing before the judge, Valjean confesses: ♪ "And so, Your Honor, you see it's true.  This man bears no more guilt than you.  Who am I?  24601 (his prisoner number)!" ♪

Little Cosette is sweeping the inn, her face dirty and her clothes ragged and torn.  She looks outside, where other children are laughing and playing with their families.  She begins to sing of a better place: ♪ "There is a castle on a cloud.  I like to go there in my sleep.  Aren't any floors for me to sweep, not in my castle on a cloud.  There is a lady all in white, holds me and sings a lullaby.  She's nice to see and she's soft to touch.  She says, 'Cosette, I love you very much.'  I know a place where no one's lost.  I know a place where no one cries.  Crying at all is not allowed, not in my castle on a cloud." ♪

Jean Valjean, in adopting Cosette, has become an instant father.  As she lays her little head on his lap to sleep, he marvels at the love he already has for her.  He strokes her hair, looking down at her sleeping face, singing: ♪ "Suddenly the world seems a different place.  Somehow full of grace, full of light.  How was I to know that so much hope was held inside me?  How was I to know at last, that happiness can come so fast?  Trusting me the way you do.  I'm so afraid of failing you." ♪  Valjean longs to protect Cosette from the dangers of the world.  He takes her hand: ♪ "Nevermore alone.  Nevermore apart.  You have warmed my heart like the sun.  You have brought the gift of life and love so long denied me.  Suddenly I see, what I could not see.  Something suddenly has begun." ♪

After saving the rebels from a hidden sniper, Jean Valjean is granted control over the prisoner Javert: ♪ "Do what you have to do.  The man belongs to you." ♪  Valjean takes a gun, hinting that he will execute the inspector who has hunted him for years.  Taking Javert into a back room, he cuts him free from his bondage.  He tells Javert to run away.  Javert, instead of feeling grateful, immediately suspects a hidden motive behind the former criminal's merciful action.  He warns Valjean that even if he lets him go, he will never stop hunting him down.  Valjean: ♪ "You are wrong.  And always have been wrong.  I'm a man, no worse than any man.  And you are free, and there are no conditions.  No bargains or petitions.  There's nothing that I blame you for.  You've done your duty, nothing more." ♪  Valjean gives Javert his address so the inspector can arrest him if he lives through the battle.  Javert, confused and still doubtful, stumbles away.

When Enjolras returns from his scouting expedition, Marius informs him that they are almost out of gunpowder.  Enjolras has even more dire news for the small band of rebels.  They are the only remaining survivors of the rebellion.  All others have been killed and the rest of Paris still sleeps in their beds.  Enjolras gives the men the option to leave: ♪ "We are abandoned by those who still live in fear.  Let us not waste lives.  Let all who wish to, go from here." ♪  The men stand silently, digesting the news.  Suddenly, the child Gavroche begins to sing the anthem of the rebellion: ♪ "Do you hear the people sing?  Singing the song of angry men?  It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again.  When the beating of your heart echoes the beating of the drums, there is a life about to start when tomorrow comes." ♪  The other men join in the song, ready now to die for their cause.  While the men discuss the ammunition problem, Gavroche sneaks through the barricade to secure gunpowder, betting on his youth that the enemy won't want to fire.  He loses the bet.  The enemy soldiers gun him down, but his blood serves as fuel on the fire of the rebels' fervor.  When a French officer offers them their freedom if they will give up the fight, the men refuse: ♪ "Let us die facing our foes.  Let others rise to take our place, until the Earth is free!" ♪  (Caution: b-word used as profanity)

Inspector Javert is walking through the scene of a recent battle.  Stepping through puddles of blood, he stares at the bodies of men lying everywhere.  He walks into a room where the bodies of rebels have been placed in a straight line.  Kneeling down at the body of a young boy, he swallows hard, fighting against tears.  Taking a medal off his own chest, he places it on the child, knowing the child had fought bravely.

Inspector Javert, torn between his duty to the law and the debt of mercy owed to Valjean, chose to allow Valjean to escape.  Now, his pride wounded, he finds himself questioning the values he's held his whole life.  He slowly climbs to the top of the dam, wrestling with why Valjean would choose to free him: ♪ "Vengeance was his, and he gave me back my life!" ♪  Javert cannot understand mercy shown toward himself because he has never shown mercy to anyone else: ♪ "D----d if I live in the debt of a thief!  D----d if I yield at the end of the chase!  I am the law and the law is not mocked!  I'll spit his pity right back in his face!" ♪  Javert looks down far below at the rushing water, wondering if his concept of a vengeful, merciless God has been wrong.  If the criminal Valjean is really right in the sight of God and the dutiful officer of the law, Javert, is not: ♪ "And my thoughts fly apart.  Can this man be believed?  Shall his sins be forgiven?  Shall his crimes be reprieved?  And must I now begin to doubt?  Who never doubted all these years.  My heart is stone and still it trembles.  The world I have known is lost in shadow.  Is he from heaven or from hell?  And does he know?  That granting me my life today, this man has killed me, even so?" ♪  Javert throws himself off the dam and into the water below.

Jean Valjean is dying.  Having said goodbye to his beloved daughter, Cosette, he welcomes death and longs to be with God.  Fantine's spirit arrives to comfort Valjean in his final suffering: ♪ "Come with me, where chains will never bind you." ♪  Valjean, groaning: "I am ready, Fantine."  Fantine: ♪ "All your grief, at last, at last behind you." ♪  Fantine looks up, begging God to end Valjean's suffering: ♪ "Lord in heaven, look down on him in mercy." ♪  Valjean adds his own prayer: ♪ "Forgive me all my trespasses and take me to Your glory." ♪  Valjean dies, but his spirit continues on with Fantine, who sings: ♪ "Take my hand, I'll lead you to salvation.  Take my love, for love is everlasting." ♪  Valjean, leaving his body behind, walks toward a room filled with candles, where the priest who led him to the Lord is waiting joyfully.  Valjean: ♪ "And remember the truth that once was spoken, to love another person is to see the face of God." ♪  Suddenly, voices of the dead can be heard in joyful song: ♪ "Do you hear the people sing, lost in the valley of the night?  It is the music of a people who are climbing to the light.  For the wretched of the Earth, there is a flame that never dies.  Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.  We will live again in freedom in the garden of the Lord.  We will walk behind the plowshare.  We will put away the sword.  The chain will be broken and all men will have their reward!" ♪
