John Grogan works as a columnist for a South Beach, Florida newspaper.  He's a newlywed and working at a fairly new job.  As he begins to write, we catch a snapshot of his life which encompasses his wife, his friends, his work, and especially their dog, Marley.  His various adventures encountered in day-to-day-life include: riding out a hurricane for three days in the dark;  chasing Marley for fifteen blocks after he chewed through his leash; overcooking the spaghetti and having a food fight with his wife; enjoying a visit from his parents; arguing with his dad about money; arguing with his dad about why they have no grandkids; arriving home from work to find his wife dancing with Marley; trying to think of reasons not to have a baby...and not coming up with any.  (Caution: several quick shots of women in bikinis)

Master Sergeant Muldoon, to the press: "I'm Master Sergeant Muldoon and this is Sergeant McGee.  Between us we've had three tours of duty in South Vietnam which makes us experts.  So we've been ordered to...volunteer to answer questions here for you today."  Hume Parkinson: "I'm Hume Parkinson.  I happen to be a newspaper man.  Since you've been in Vietnam, perhaps you can answer a question that many of our subscribers ask."  Muldoon: "We'll try."  Parkinson: "Why is the United States waging this ruthless war?"  Muldoon: "Foreign policy decisions are not made by the military.  A soldier goes where he is told to go and fights whomever he is told to fight."  George Beckworth: "You agree with that, Sergeant McGee?  That the Green Beret's just a military robot with no personal feelings?"  Muldoon: "Can I have your name, sir?"  Beckworth: "George Beckworth, Chronicle-Herald."  Muldoon: "Thank you, sir."  Sybil Sutton: "Sybil Sutton, Washington Sentinel.  Will you please answer that question, Sgt. McGee?  Do they press a button?  Do your men do what they're told to do without any personal feelings or opinions?"  McGee: "We have feelings, Miss Sutton, and opinions.  It's pretty hard not to form them out there."  Sutton: "Everyone knows the South Vietnamese are fighting and dying for their cause."  McGee: "As soldiers, Miss Sutton, we can understand the killing of the military, but the extermination of the civilian leadership, intentional murder and torture of innocent women and children..."  Sutton: "Yes, I guess horrible things happen in war.  But that doesn't mean to say they need us or even want us."  McGee: "I'll try to answer that question for you.  Let me put it in terms we all can understand.  If this same thing happened here in the United States...every mayor in every city would be murdered.  Every teacher that you've ever known would be tortured and killed.  Every professor you ever heard of...every governor, every senator, every member of the House of Representatives and their combined families, all would be tortured and killed, and a like number kidnapped.  But in spite of this, there's always some little fellow out there willing to stand up and take the place of those who have been decimated.  They need us, Miss Sutton...and they want us."

Carl and Ellie's life together is chronicled -- beautifully and without dialogue -- from their wedding day to their twilight years. Included: playing together as children; carrying his new bride into their first home; fixing up their rundown home together; picnics under their favorite oak tree; reading together while holding hands; remodeling a room for a nursery; devastation that she can't conceive; saving for their dream retirement; spending their savings on car repairs, roof repairs, and hospital bills; growing blissfully old together; and losing a life-long partner to sickness. :>(

An old black-and-white news reel, "Movie Town News, Spotlight on Adventure," plays in a 1950's afternoon matinee (amid the mixed crowd is a young boy, Carl, who soaks it all in). It chronicles the exploits of the beloved explorer, Charles Muntz, who returns after a year long expedition to "the lost world" in his large dirigible (which includes lots of doggie comforts for his K9 companions). Muntz brings back and presents to the world a skeleton of "The Monster of Paradise Falls!"   But after studying the bones themselves, scientists from the National Explorer Society cry foul, accuse Muntz of fabricating the skeleton, and strip him of his membership. Humiliated, Muntz vows to return to Paradise Falls and capture the beast alive: "And I will not come back until I do!"

__"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

- For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie (the entire film or just a scene), the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming a movie scene - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream a movie scene inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly). 
- In light of COVID-19, the Church Video License has made temporary modifications to the license: For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie, they can use a platform that is gated or private (password protected entry to only members and guests and not open to the general public), such as Zoom (requiring a password to join).

Freddie has invited Deacon over to see his new house.  He shows Deacon around the cavernous, opulent rooms which he will share with no one but his cats.  Freddie, delighted: "Each cat will have its own room."  Deacon isn't nearly as enthusiastic as Freddie and, in fact, seems in a hurry to leave.  Freddie, hopefully: "Stay for dinner?  Anything you fancy."  Deacon refuses, citing the wife and kids.  Freddie tries again, but Deacon says goodbye.  Later, Freddie is still alone in his big, empty house.  He calls up Mary, who lives next door.  He asks Mary to look out her window.  He turns on and off his light: "Do you see me?"  Mary, patiently, says she does.  Freddie, lonely and desperate for human contact, asks Mary to do the same.  When she does, Freddie is pleased and asks her to leave her light on.  He begs her to come over and have a drink.  When she refuses, he asks to drink together over the phone.  Mary only pretends to have a drink, feeling sorry for him.  Freddie toasts her and then says goodbye, staring longingly up at her lighted window.

June and her parents have just spent days nursing Johnny through detox from his drug addiction.  Johnny sits in bed, tears in his eyes, and looks at June: "You're an angel.  You been here with me."  June: "I had a friend who needed help.  You're my friend."  Johnny, feeling unworthy of friendship: "But I done so many bad things."  June: "You done a few, that's true."  Johnny, crying, tells June that he feels his father was right when he said Johnny should have died.  Johnny: "What have I done (with my life)?  Just hurt everybody I know.  I'm nothing."  June, smiling: "You're are not nothing.  You're a good man.  And God has given you a second chance to make things right, John.  This is your chance."  A tear courses down Johnny's cheek and he sobs in June's arms.  Later, Johnny and June walk into church together.  Johnny hesitates before entering the building, feeling as if he doesn't belong.  But June encourages him and they enter the church together with the sound of a hymn being sung in the background.


Johnny is on tour with several other singers, including Jerry Lee Lewis.  When Luther has a hard time remembering where they are headed next, Jerry Lee suddenly tells him that everyone in the car is headed to hell.  Johnny laughs, thinking Jerry Lee is joking.  But the one-time gospel singer is serious: "We're all going to hell for the songs we sing.  People that listen to them, they're going to hell, too.  God gave us a great, big apple, see?  And He said, "Don't touch it!"  He didn't say, "Touch it once in a while."  He didn't say, "Take a nibble when you're hungry."  He said, "Don't touch it!  Don't think about touchin' it!  Don't sing about touchin' it!  Don't think about singing about touchin' it!"

Brian and Roger are talking despondently after their latest gig when Freddie approaches to tell them he enjoyed the show.  Initially, they treat him like just another fan, keeping their responses polite, but distant.  Freddie tries to give them some song lyrics he's written, but they refuse, telling him their lead singer has just quit.  Immediately, Freddie brightens: "Well, then, you'll need someone new."  Brian: "Any ideas?"  Freddie, smiling his unbelievably buck-toothed smile: "What about me?"  Roger, laughing: "Uh, not with those teeth, mate."  Freddie, looking downcast, turns to walk away.  He stops and faces them again, breaking into song.  Looking amazed at Freddie's talent, Brian and Roger join in, harmonizing perfectly with Freddie's melody.  Freddie, when they finish: "I was born with four additional incisors.  More space in my mouth means more range.  I'll consider your offer."  Freddie, his head held high, turns to walk away.

As Johnny gets ready to leave for work, Vivian sighs: "You gonna try today, John?  Really try to sell something?"  Johnny, straightening his tie: "What does that mean?"  Vivian: "I cleaned out your case last night, and, baby, all I found were peanut bags and music magazines."  She again pressures him to go to work for her father.  Johnny, kneeling in front of her, assures her he is trying his best.  He kisses her and heads out to the neighborhood.  The first door he knocks on gets shut in his face as soon as he introduces himself.  The lady at the second door barely listens for longer before she cuts off John's speech with another door in his face.  At the third house, a maid answers the door.  She looks as if she would listen to John's pitch but her boss starts screaming at her from another room.  The maid shakes her head at John and he gets his third rejection.


Johnny walks June to her door and then leans in suddenly to kiss her.  June steps back, reminding him that she's just been through a messy divorce and he is a married man: "You seem like you have a nice family."  Johnny: "I'm sorry.  It just happened."  June, recognizing a pattern of disclaiming responsibility in Johnny's life: "Just happened?  You wear black 'cause you can't find anything else to wear.  You found your sound 'cause you can't play no better.  You just tried to kiss me because it just happened?"  Johnny nods.  June: "You should try taking credit for something every once in awhile."


June is in a small town in Virginia, shopping while on tour with Johnny Cash.  The proprietor of the grocery store approaches her, ostensibly to offer help, but, in reality, to offer judgement.  Woman: "Your ma and pa are good Christians in a world gone to pot."  June smiles: "Well, I'll tell 'em you said that."  Woman: "I'm surprised they still speak to you...after that stunt with Carl Smith."  (June and her husband Carl just got divorced.)  The woman looks sourly at June: "Divorce is an abomination.  Marriage is for life."  June's smile fades, although she remains polite: "I'm sorry I let you down, ma'am."


The Griffins help Caspian and the children in their fight against the Telmarines.

An emotional exchange between Peter and the Prince.


Johnny and his band are trying out for a record label.  The three men stand in the studio before the owner and strum unenthusiastically on their instruments.  The song they have chosen is a familiar gospel song, but Johnny sings it with no emotion and a flat, uninspired tone: ♪ "Yes, I know when Jesus saved me...He took away my heavy burdens...Lord, he gave me a peace within." ♪ They only sing for a minute before the studio exec stops them: "I hate to interrupt, but you guys got somethin' else?"  The exec tells them that the kind of gospel music they are singing doesn't sell.  Johnny: "Was it the gospel, or the way I sing it?"  Exec: "Both."  Johnny, somewhat hurt: "What's wrong with the way I sing it?"  Exec, staring Johnny in the face: "I don't believe you."  Johnny, angry now: "You saying I don't believe in God?"  Exec, making his voice sound flat and unemotional like Johnny's did: "We've already heard that song a hundred times, just like that.  Just...like...how...you...sang...it."  He wants Johnny to sing authentically: "If you was hit by a truck and you were lying out in that gutter, dying, and you had time to sing one song...one song people would remember before you're dirt...one song that would let God know what you felt about your time here on Earth...one song that would sum you up...you telling me that's the song you'd sing?  That same Jimmy Davis tune we hear on the radio all day?  About your peace within and how it's real and how you're gonna shout it?  Or...would you sing something different?  Something real.  Something YOU felt.  Because I'm telling you right now, that's the kind of song people want to hear.  That's the kind of song that truly saves people."


Freddie is getting ready for his day when his attention is caught by a news program that is covering the new AIDS epidemic.  He stares in silent fear at the screen as the newscaster describes the mysterious, incurable illness that is infecting people daily.  A sad, haunting song begins to play in the background as Freddy continues to get ready for a doctor's appointment: ♪ "There's no time for us.  There's no place for us.  What is this thing that builds our dreams, yet slips away from us.  Who wants to live forever?  Who wants to live forever?" ♪ With heavy steps, Freddie walks down the hospital hallway.  Seated in the doctor's office, he looks at the man from behind mirrored sunglasses.  He hears the doctor's words: "Treatments are available.  They're not particularly effective, Freddie."  The song continues: ♪ "The world has only one sweet moment set aside for us." ♪ Freddy lowers his head.

Caspian and his army of Narnian creatures attack the castle.


Life with a famous husband on tour all the time isn't turning out like Vivian expected.  Johnny is barely home and now he is about to leave again.  Johnny: "It's just crazy right now, that's all."  He starts to tell her a story about something that happened on his last tour, but Vivian cuts him off: "I have a casserole in the oven and your sister in the kitchen and I don't want to talk about the tour."  She tells John that she is a making a new rule that no tour-talk is allowed: "When you get home, I want to get right down to talking about regular things."  Johnny, already feeling like his life is pulled in a thousand directions, chafes at the idea of yet another rule: "I'm trying to go there and I'm trying to be back here and spend time with you and the kids, and write songs, do this...I mean, what do you want from me?  I got you your dream house, all of your things, all the pretty, little things.  I got you your car!  What do you want from me?!"  Vivian, crying now: "I want you, John!  I want you!"  (Caution: h-word spoken, smoking)


Brian shares a new song idea at a rehearsal: It begins with two stomps and ends with a clap on the third beat; hoping to give thousands of people a chance to participate in unison. Freddie asks what the lyric is? ‘We will rock you,’ of course!

The friends are warned about Dark Island: the place where evil lurks; it seeks to corrupt all goodness.

The band have an appointment to meet with a big-name music agent.  When Freddie shows up to the meeting wearing a hideously over-collared jacket, Roger, Brian, and Deacon give him some good-natured ribbing.  The band mates are still laughing when John arrives.  He sits down, getting right to the point: "So, tell me, what makes Queen any different from all the other wannabe rock stars I meet?"  Freddie immediately answers: "I'll tell you what it is.  We're four misfits who don't belong together, playing to the other misfits...the outcasts, right at the back of the room who are pretty sure they don't belong either.  We belong to them."  Brian agrees: "We're a family."  John likes the answer and offers them a signing.

George is shopping in the grocery store and realizes that while the hot dogs come in a pack of 8, the hot dog buns come in a pack of 12.  He is frustrated with how much money he is spending on his daughter's wedding and takes matters into his own hands.

Franck is describing the wedding cake and George can barely understand his unusual accent.  However, he does hear the cost of the cake, nearly $1200, and almost loses consciousness.

On the eve of his daughter's wedding, George hears her in the backyard joins her in the backyard as they share a very special moment together in the falling snow.

Sirens sound and searchlights pierce the sky as WWII German bombers fly over London at night and begin to unload their explosives upon the city.  Edmund is watching the firey display outside the living room window when his mother barges in and orders him away.  She frantically rounds up her other three children and all race out to their backyard and into a bomb shelter.  Edmund, however, stops and yells, "Wait!  Dad!" and heads back into the house for a picture of their father (a soldier in the war).  Older brother Peter takes off after him screaming for him to get down, as a blast knocks out a nearby window.  Edmund grabs the picture and the two quickly make their way into the safety of the shelter.  "Why can't you think of anyone but yourself!  You're so selfish!  You could've got us killed!" reprimands Peter.  "Why can't you just do as you're told?"

The children are picked up at the train station by a very stern woman, Mrs. Macready, and taken to their new home -- the very large house of an old professor. The minute they are in the door she begins informing them of the rules: "Professor Kirke is not accustomed to havin' children in this house. And, as such, there are a few rules we need to follow. There will be no shoutin'. Or runnin'. No improper use of the dumbwaiter. No touchin' of the historical artifacts! And above all, there shall be no disturbin' of the professor," leaving the children a bit nervous and frightened.

The children decide to play "hide-and-seek" inside the professor's enormous mansion when Lucy enters a mysterious wardrobe. She continues to walk backwards through what seems like an unusual number of coats, until she begins to feel pine trees and a cold winter breeze. Turning around with large eyes of delight, she takes her first walk into the magical land of Narnia.

Lucy has just met Mr. Tumnus the faun, and is enjoying a wonderful spot of tea inside his home, when he asks if she would like to hear some music. "Oh! Yes, please," comes her reply. Tumnus then begins to play his flute, putting Lucy into a deep sleep. When she awakes, the room is dark and she whispers that she must go. "It's too late for that now," says Mr. Tumnus. "I'm such a terrible faun." Lucy argues that he's a very nice faun and that "you can't have done anything that bad."  But Mr. Tumnas reveals, while wiping tears from his eyes, "It's not something I have done, Lucy Pevensie. It's something I'm doing... I'm kidnapping you."  He then explains that he is only following orders from the White Witch to save his own life. "But, Mr. Tumnus, you wouldn't. I thought you were my friend," Lucy says sadly.  And at this, Mr. Tumnus hurries Lucy out of the house and sneaks her back safely towards her wardrobe.

Edmund has secretly followed Lucy into Narnia and is discovered on the road by the White Witch. To fulfill her ultimate plan to kill all four children and stop them from ruling in Narnia as kings and queens, she begins to pull information and service from Edmund by tempting him with goodies. Edmund joins her on her sleigh and is wrapped warmly with her cloak.  Witch: "Now, how about something hot to drink?"  Edmund: "Yes, please, Your Majesty."  She then magically produces a hot cup of hot chocolate out of the snow.  "I can make anything you like."  Edmund: "Turkish delight?"  She immediately whips up a whole container full. As Emund begins to stuff the delicacy into his mouth, the witch says, "I would very much like to meet the rest of your family... you see, Edmund, I have no children of my own. And you are exactly the sort of boy who I could see, one day, becoming Prince of Narnia... (as he continues to eat, sugar falling from his lips) Maybe even King (offering him a royal position that's ALREADY his)... Of course, you'd have to bring your family..." She then points out where her castle is, "You'd love it there, Edmund. It has whole rooms simply stuffed with Turkish delight..."

Edmund and Lucy return from Narnia and she excitedly tells her two older siblings. They don't believe her even though she explains that this time Edmund went too. Edmund, however, denies it and says he was just playing along with her. Lucy bursts into tears and runs out of the room and into the arms of the mysterious professor (in whose house they are living). The professor questions Peter and Susan: "You seem to have upset the delicate internal balance of my housekeeper."  Peter: "We're very sorry, sir. It won't happen again."  Susan: "It's our sister, sir. Lucy... She's upset... She thinks she's found a magical land. In the upstairs wardrobe.  Prof: "What did you say?"  Peter: "Lucy thinks she's found a forest inside."  Susan: "She won't stop going on about it."  Prof: "What was it like?"  Peter: "You're not saying you believe her?"  Prof: "You don't?"  Susan: "But of course not. I mean, logically, it's impossible."  Prof: "What do they teach in schools these days?"  Peter: "Edmund said they were only pretending."  Prof: "And he's usually the more truthful one, is he?"  Peter: "No. This would be the first time."  Prof: "Well, if she's not mad and she's not lying, then logically we must assume she's telling the truth."  Peter: "You're saying that we should just believe her?"  Prof: "She's your sister, isn't she? You're her family. You might just try acting like one."

The children are outside playing ball when Edmund accidentally hits it through a stain glassed house window. They go scurrying into the room, finding a mess of broken glass and armor. "What on earth is goin' on up there?" they hear Mrs. Macready say, as they take off running. They frantically search for a place to hide as Mrs. Macready's footsteps are heard -- finally taking refuge in the mysterious wardrobe...

The children meet up with Father Christmas (a gentle and wise older man, similar to the true Saint Nicholas in history). He knows their names and seemingly everything else about them.  Peter: "We thought you were the Witch (hiding from him at first)."  Father: "Yes, yes, I'm sorry about that, but in my defense, I have been driving one of these longer than the Witch."  Susan: "I thought there was no Christmas in Narnia?"  Father: "No. For a long time. But the hope that you have brought, Your Majesties, is finally starting to weaken the Witch's power. Still, I dare say you could do with these." He then takes a large bag from his sleigh and begins giving gifts.  To Lucy he gives a bottle of liquid: "The juice of the fire-flower. One drop will cure any injury. And though I hope you never have to use it..." he continues, as he hands her a small dagger.  To Susan he gives a bow and arrows: "Trust in this bow and it will not easily miss."  He then hands her a horn: "Though you don't seem to have a problem making yourself heard, blow on this and wherever you are, help will come."  To Peter he gives a sword and shield: "The time to use these may be near at hand... These are tools, not toys. Bear them well and wisely."  He departs by saying, "Long live Aslan! And Merry Christmas!"

Earlier... Peter, Susan and Lucy finally meet Aslan. He asks where Edmund is and they explain that he betrayed them and was captured by the Witch. The children say it was their fault for being too hard on Edmund. In this scene, Aslan talks with Peter alone as they look out toward a distant castle.  Aslan: "That is Cair Paravel, the castle of the four thrones. In one of which you will sit, Peter, as High King."  Peter lowers his head.  Aslan: "You doubt the prophecy?"  Peter: "No. That's just it. Aslan, I'm not what you all think I am."  Aslan: "Peter Pevensie, formerly of Finchley. Beaver also mentioned that you planned on turning him into a hat. Peter, there is a Deep Magic, more powerful than any of us that rules over all of Narnia. It defines right from wrong, and governs all our destinies. Yours... and mine."  Peter: "But I couldn't even protect my own family."  Aslan: "You've brought them safely this far."  Peter: "Not all of them."  Aslan: "Peter, I will do what I can to help your brother, but I need you to consider what I ask of you. I, too, want my family safe."

Susan and Lucy are playing near a stream when they are suddenly attacked and threatened to be killed by two wolves. They escape into a tree and call for help using Susan's horn. Peter, Aslan and others come running to the scene. Aslan incapacitates one wolf, but tells his army: "No! Stay your weapons. This is Peter's battle."  The Wolf threatens, "You may think you're a king, but you're going to die like a dog!" as it lunges at Peter, who swings his sword around just in time, impaling the creature. Later, Peter kneels before Aslan, who lifts his paw from his shoulder and says, "Rise, Sir Peter Wolf's-Bane, Knight of Narnia."

Edmund (who recently betrayed his siblings, endangering their lives) has been rescued at night and joins Aslan's camp. It's early morning the next day and Aslan is off on a hillside talking to Edmund alone. The other children come out from their tents and look curiously at the conversation taking place. As Aslan and Edmund join the others, the Great Lion says, "What's done is done. There is no need to speak to Edmund about what is past."  Edmund then looks sheepishly at his brother and sisters, and eventually squeaks out, "Hello."  Lucy runs into his arms, followed by Susan. He says he's a little tired when asked if he's alright.  Peter, still showing no emotion, tells him to get some sleep. But as Edmund walks by, Peter finally warms up: "And Edmund... try not to wander off," he says with a smile.

The Witch enters Aslan's camp with a small army of miscreants, demanding a meeting with the Lion and the blood of the traitor, Edmond. Aslan talks to the Witch alone and works out an agreement to save the boy.

Susan and Lucy watch from a distance as Aslan approaches the stone table where the Witch and all her minions are gathered. The Great Lion walks into the hive of evil, willingly giving himself to the Witch. As he walks through the demonic creatures, they sneer, hiss and taunt him, until Aslan is eventually bound, shaved and placed on a stone altar in front of her.

Aslan has willingly given himself to the Witch after being mocked, beaten, bound and shaved, and is now lying at her feet on the great Stone Tablet. She raises her dagger (with drums beating and all the hosts of evil cheering) and plunges the blade into Aslan, killing him -- proclaiming that the Great Cat is finally dead!

It's early morning and Aslan's body is laying lifeless on the great Stone Table (having been embraced by Susan and Lucy the entire night). As the girls are walking away in sadness, they suddenly hear a great rumbling noise behind them. They turn to look and find that the great Stone Table has been completely broken in two and Aslan's body has vanished.  The Great Lion suddenly appears between two stone pillars, the sun rising behind him, and ends the scene with a loud and victorious roar!

During an intense battle between the forces of good and evil, the White Witch and Peter are startled by a mighty roar as Aslan appears in all his glory. Just as she raises her sword to end Peter's life, the Witch is pounced on by Aslan who kills her with one great bite...proclaiming the war is finally finished!

The battle for Narnia is over, victory is won, as Aslan gathers his people at the castle of Cair Paravel to fulfill the remaining part of the prophecy. He leads the Pevensie children toward four thrones: "To the glistening Easter Sea, I give you Queen Lucy the Valiant (as crowns begin to be placed on the children's heads). To the great Western Wood, I give you King Edmund the Just. To the radiant Southern Sun, Queen Susan, the Gentle. And to the clear Northern Sky, I give you King Peter, the Magnificent. Once a King or Queen of Narnia, always a King or Queen. May your wisdom grace us until the stars rain down from the heavens."  All: "Long live King Peter! Long live King Edmund! Long live Queen Susan! Long live Queen Lucy!"

As adults -- Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy -- are chasing a white stag on their horses. They stop to rest for a moment and notice an old lamp post covered in ivy. Peter: "It seems familiar."  Susan: "As is from a dream."  Lucy: "Or a dream of a dream... Spare Oom."  Lucy runs into the forest, following a hunch and a memory long forgotten. The others follow as they go deeper and deeper into the trees -- which eventually start turning into large furry coats -- until suddenly, they fall out into an empty room from a wardrobe... back again as children. The Professor enters and says, "Oh. There you are. What were you all doing in the wardrobe?"  Peter: "You wouldn't believe us if we told you, sir."  And with a glint in his eye, and a mischievous smile on his face, the Professor replies, "Try me."

As a young girl, Lucy enters the spare room and approaches the mysterious wardrobe yet again. As she opens the door and peers into the darkness, the Professor says (who is secretly sitting on a chair in the corner), "I don't think you'll get back in that way. You see... I've already tried."  Lucy: "Will we ever go back?"  Professor: "Oh, I expect so. But it'll probably happen when you're not looking for it. All the same, best to keep your eyes open."  They leave the room... the wardrobe door slightly opens with a stream of light shining through... and the unmistakable roar of a lion is heard...

Arriving at their new house at night, Mrs. Grace has trouble getting Jared (one of her twin boys) out of the car.  After knocking on the window and being ignored, she opens the door: "You're angry about the move. I get that. Just what are you expecting your silent protest will get you?"  He shrugs.  "At least acknowledge this isn't the way to deal with your anger the way you said you were gonna do."  No response.  "Say yes with your head."  Nope.  "Two blinks."  No response.  "Nothing," as she pats his head, sighs, and walks away.  Mallory, his older sister, then gives it a try: "Get out of the car right now!"  Jared: "You're not my mother, Mallory."  Mallory: "No, I'm worse, because Mom doesn't believe in hitting," which she does.  Out of the car, the two have an impromptu sword fight, as Jared yells for his twin brother: "Simon, get her!"  Simon: "I'm a pacifist."  After Mallory leaves, Jared snaps at his brother again: "Thanks for having my back, bro."  Simon: "I don't do conflict."

Jared Grace and his family have recently moved into a large, old 19th Century home.  While exploring the house on his first night there, he discovers a hidden room near the top of the house.  While searching the room, he uncovers a large chest and finds a large book in it.  The book is tied up and secured with a wax signature seal.  A large warning note is posted on the front.  Jared takes the book back to his room, and while his mom and siblings sleep, he crawls onto his bed and looks at the cover of the book.  Intrigued, he reads the note of warning: "Do not dare to read this book, for if you take one fateful look, you barter at your life's expense and face a deadly consequence."  He pauses for a moment then cracks the seal and opens the book...which immediately releases a mysterious force.  Looking through the book and learning it's history, he is startled by a blood-curdling scream from his sister.  As everyone runs to her room, they find her long hair has spread and tied to the bed post.  Jared wonders if he should have listened to the warning!

Jared uses honey and crackers to finally lure Thimbletack (a small little man who is in fact a brownie) out of hiding.  However, when the little guy gets angry, he transforms into a hideous boggart -- spewing insults and accusations at the boy...  The only way to calm the brownie's rage, of course, is more honey!  Jared: "And they say I've got anger issues."

Jared has just convinced his brother Simon that they really are surrounded by a host of goblins -- whose mission it is to gain possession of a mysterious book that Jared found.  As Simon is coming to terms with this, their older sister Mallory arrives.  Mallory is certain that Jared is up to no good (as usual) as he tries to convince her about the supposed goblins. Mallory approaches her brothers and unknowingly has entered the exact area where the goblins are, which the boys can see but she cannot.  She tells them there are no such things as goblins.  Suddenly, despite warnings from the boys, she is attacked and scratched on the arm by some invisible force.  Mallory happens to be a fencing student -- always having her sword with her -- which now comes in handy.  Directed by her brother, she lashes out blow after blow, slicing blindly at the creepy gremlins.  Jared tosses her an eyepiece, allowing humans to see into the fantasy world, and she continues to battle courageously.  She eventually joins her brothers who are inside a protected circle that surrounds the house -- a line which the goblins can't cross.

Considered crazy, 86 year old Lucy Spiderwick is being held at the local Sanatorium.  She is also the great aunt of Jared and Mallory Grace who make an unexpected visit and meet their aunt for the very first time.  They desperately need her assistance in ridding themselves of a mysterious and life-threatening book that Lucy's father wrote (and Jared stupidly opened -- unleashing an invisible world of murderous creatures which could exterminate all of humanity).  Lucy doesn't have the answers they're looking for, but does fill them in on the history with her father.  He had become so obsessed with adding secrets to his mystical book that he ignored his family.  When she was six, and found herself being attacked by goblins in the front yard, she is courageously rescued by her father.  Unfortunately, he is overcome by the goblins himself, but is miraculously rescued by a swarm of small magical beings. Lucy: "So they rescued him from the goblins, but took him away from me (as he knew too much about their world)."  Father: "Lucy! I'll be back!"  Lucy: "Each day, I would stare down that drive, and dream of him walking up those steps and holding me in his arms once again. But he never did."

Mrs. Grace and two of her older children are driving home.  A discussion has been going on about mythical creatures the kids claim they have seen -- which Mom doesn't believe and refuses to hear about any more.  Her unwillingness to listen or to discuss this with them, angers Jared.  He states she did the same thing to their dad (not listen) and that's what drove him away (their dad actually found another woman, but Mom hasn't had the heart to tell Jared the truth).  Mrs. Grace is hurt by his comments, and as they pull up to the house, she orders him out of the car.  As he gets out, he shouts that he hates her and doesn't want to live with her.  Mrs. Grace and Mallory sit in the car for a few quiet moments, until Mallory quietly says, "Don't you think you should just tell him?"

A huge ogre (Mulgarath) and his goblin forces are after the book that would give them supreme power -- held and protected by Jared and his family.  The beast will stop at nothing, and killing the family is all that stands in his way.  After thwarting the initial murderous attack and thinking all is safe, they suddenly hear a pounding at the front door.  All are surprised to see their estranged father come through the door.  Dad appears to be shocked by all the damage and is curious about the book that Jared is holding and asks to see it.  Jared is about to turn it over, but quickly pulls it back.  The boy wants his dad to finally say what he never got a chance to tell him earlier on the phone.  Dad gropes for an answer and finally says he loves his son.  Jared yells out, "Wrong answer," and shockingly stabs his father with a huge knife.  Mom and siblings are mortified until "Dad" begins to transform into the giant ogre, Mulgarath!  (Caution: intense scene)

While Edmund and Lucy are living with their Aunt and Uncle Scrubbs, they discuss a strange painting on the wall in her room.  It's the painting of an unusual ship navigating the waves of a formidable ocean...           Edmund: "Lucy?  Have you seen this ship before?"      Lucy: "Yes.  It's very Narnian-looking, isn't it?"       Edmund: "Yeah.  Just another reminder that we're here and not there."           Eustace, their bratty and annoying cousin has just entered the room: "There once were two orphans/ Who wasted their time/ Believing in Narnian nursery rhymes."         Edmund: "Please let me hit him."       Lucy: "No!"       After exchanging a few more unpleasantries, Eustace comments: "What's so fascinating about that picture anyway?  It's hideous."       Edmund (looking daggers at his cousin): "You won't see it from the other side of the door."       Lucy: "Edmund, it looks like the water is actually moving."        Eustace: "What rubbish!  See, that's what happens when you read all those fanciful novels and fairy tales of yours."       But as Edmund and Eustace continue to argue, water begins to pour out of the painting.  Panicked, Eustace grabs the painting off the wall which causes the entire room to flood over their heads.  Swimming to the surface, the three children find themselves in a swelling ocean -- alongside the same ship in the painting!  After being rescued and brought aboard, Lucy and Edmund are thrilled to be reunited with their old friend Caspian.  Eustace, however, is finding it hard to believe what has just happened.  After squabbling with Reepicheep the mouse (who saved his life) and learning that he is, indeed, in Narnia... Eustace immediately faints on deck.

While on the Dawn Treader out at sea, the conniving Eustace sneaks into the ship's galley to steal food.  After stuffing an orange into his shirt, the boy is startled by the valiant mouse Reepicheep.          "Are you aware that stealing rations is a capital offense at sea?"       Eustace: "Oh, you."         Reepicheep: "Men have been keelhauled for less."        Eustace: "For what?"       Reepicheep: "For treason and sneakiness and general nuisancery.  Look, just hand over the orange and we'll let the matter pass."         Eustace: "I don't know what you're talking about."          Reepicheep: "Allow me to...", but suddenly gasps as Eustace rudely grabs the mouse's tail!          Eustace: "Look, I've had quite enough of you."       Reepicheep, slowly pulling out his sword: "Unhand the tail.  The great Aslan himself gave me this tail.  No one touches the tail!  Period.  Exclamation mark."        Eustace: "Sorry."         Reepicheep: "Now, I will have the orange, then I will have satisfaction."        But instead, Eustace grabs a sword and runs to the ship's deck.  There the two dual it out -- the mouse chattering a lesson in swordplay 101 -- ending with Reepicheep retrieving the orange and embarrassing the brat yet again.

On Duffer's Island, Lucy is abducted by invisible Dufflepuds who force her to enter the manor of Coriakin, a magician, to find a book of incantations and recite a spell to make them visible again.  Paging through the book, she first recites a "Spell for Snow," which causes snow to start filling the room.  Blowing on the book, the snow disappears, but emits a nefarious green smoke -- tempting her with the next spell.        "An infallible spell to make you she: the beauty you've always wanted to be."      On the next page a mirror appears and Lucy watches her face transform to resemble her beautiful sister Susan.     "I'm beautiful."         Even though the spell quickly wears off, she tears the page out to use for later -- causing the book to flip pages rapidly and Aslan's roar to be heard.        Aslan: "Lucy!" and then gently, "Lucy..."         Lucy: "Aslan?"       But not seeing the great lion, she quickly stuffs the page up under her blouse.

Continuing their quest to defeat an evil green mist by finding the seven swords to lay at Aslan's Table, the ship arrives at a volcanic island.  Once ashore, King Caspian, Edmund and Lucy find a cave with a mysterious pool (unseen below the surface is the diabolical green mist).  The pool turns anything that touches its waters into solid gold, as it is filled with a variety of golden objects -- included a previous explorer...        Edmund (after turning a seashell into gold and staring greedily at it): "Whoever has access to this pool, could be the most powerful person in the world.  Lucy, we'd be so rich.  No one could tell us what to do, or who to live with."            Caspian: "You can't take anything out of Narnia, Edmund."        Edmund: "Says who?"         Caspian: "I do."         Edmund approaches Caspian with his sword.           "I'm not your subject."                Caspian: "You've been waiting for this, haven't you?  To challenge me?  You doubt my leadership?"             Edmund: "You doubt yourself."               Caspian: "You're a child!"              Edmund: "And you're a spineless sap!   I'm tired of playing second fiddle.  First it was Peter (his older brother) and now it's you.  You know I'm braver than both of you.  And why do you get Peter's sword?  I deserve a kingdom of my own.  I deserve to rule!"          Caspian: "If you think you're so brave, prove it!" as the two begin swinging swords.            Lucy (jumping between them): "No!  Stop it!  Both of you!  Look at yourselves.  Can't you see what's happening?  This place has tempted you.  It's bewitching you.  This is exactly what Coriakin was talking about.  Let's just get out of here."          They exit, as Edmund forces himself to throw the golden shell back into the pool; the green mist hissing disappointedly.

With World War II still raging, 16-year-old Edmund -- previous king and valiant adult hero for years in Narnia -- visits a British recruiting office to hopefully enlist and fight the forces of evil...     Officer: "Are you sure you're 18?"       Edmund: "Why, do I look older?"        The officer asks to see his papers, which belong to Alberta Scrubb: the Aunt he's currently living with.        Officer: "Alberta Scrubb?"         Edmund: "That's a typographical error.  It's supposed to be Albert A. Scrubb."          Unfortunately, his sister Lucy walks in and calls out to him: "Edmund!  ...You're supposed to be helping me with the groceries."        The other men in line laugh as the officer disappointedly hands his papers back.           Edmund turns to leave as the next man in line scruffs his hair: "Better luck next time, eh, squirt?"        Once outside, Edmund complains to his sister: "Squirt?  He barely had two years on me.  I'm a king!  I've fought wars and I've led armies."        Lucy: "Not in this world."

Caspian, Edmund and crew are on Duffer's Island looking for Lucy when they are attacked by an invisible enemy with spears...          Dufflepud 1 voice: "Stop right there or perish!"      The men try to defend themselves but quickly have the swords knocked out of their hands.  (Meanwhile, Lucy is inside a secret mansion reciting a spell to make all things visible.)       Caspian: "What sort of creatures are you?"            Dufflepud Chief voice: "Big ones, with the head of a tiger and the body of a, uh..."        Dufflepud 1 voice: "Different tiger."      Chief voice: "You don't want to mess with us."          Edmund: "Or what?"         Dufflepud 2: "Or I'll claw you to death!"        Dufflepud 1: " And run my tusks right through you."         But the Dufflepuds begin to materialize, revealing them to be dwarf-sized creatures with only one leg and a giant foot (causing the men to assume by their footprints that they were giants).        Unaware that they are now visible, the Dufflepuds continue dishing out their threats.           Chief: "And I'll gnash you with my teeth."          Dufflepud 2: "  And I'll bite you with my fangs.  Grrrrr!"          Caspian (now smiling): "You mean squash us with your fat bellies? ...Tickle us with your toes?"          Horrified, the Dufflepuds now realize the jig is up!        As the men gather their swords, Edmund demands: "What have you done with my sister, you little pip-squeak?"

Continuing their quest on a volcanic island (see previous Scene), the trouble-making Eustace runs off by himself and stumbles (literally) into a crevasse filled with a plethora of treasure. He greedily begins filling his pockets (unaware he is being tempted by an evil green mist).          "Finally... a favorable turn of events."          Back on shore, the crew finds Eustace missing, forcing Caspian and Edmund to go search for him.  They find the crevasse and Eustace's smoldering clothes.  They assume he is dead.  Meanwhile offshore, the crew of the anchored Dawn Treader is suddenly attacked by a flying, fire-breathing dragon!  They are able to fight the beast off -- but not before it captures Edmund.  The dragon takes the startled youth over an island area where a message has been written in fire: "I am Eustace."             Returning to the shore, they discuss the problem of Eustace now being a dragon...        Edmund: "He must have been tempted by the treasure."       Caspian: "Anyone knows a dragon's treasure is enchanted."            Eustace looks offended and growls.                   Caspian: "Well, anyone from here."

The previously sniveling Eustace -- who's recently been turned into a dragon (see previous Scene) -- and ship's crew are sleeping on the volcanic island's beach at night.  Reepicheep the mouse (one of the most valiant and honorable characters in Narnian lore) notices that Eustace is not sleeping, but continues to cry over his predicament.  Moved with compassion, the mouse approaches the dragon-boy to console him....          "Trouble sleeping?"     But Eustace just turns away.           "Now, now.  All is not as lost as it seems.  I'll stay up with you if you wish; keep you company.  I'll wager you didn't even believe in dragons this morning.  (Chuckles)  Yes.  You know, extraordinary things only happen to extraordinary people.  Maybe it's a sign, that you've got an extraordinary destiny.  Something greater than you could have imagined.  I could tell you one or two of my adventures if you like, just to pass the time," which causes Eustace to turn to the mouse with interest.       "Believe it or not, you're not the first dragon I've encountered.  Many years ago, too many than I care to mention..."

As the Dawn Treader draws closer to shore of the Dark Island, lair of the evil mist, a voice is heard...        "Keep away!  Keep awaaaaaaay!"            Edmund: "Who's there?"        Caspian: "We do not fear you!"               Voice: "Nor I you!"         Edmund then shines a light on the shore which reveals a long-haired, wild-eyed elderly man. The elderly man continues to warn them to keep away, but Caspian continues to push forward -- with the goal of finding the last sword for Aslan's Table; which the man is holding. Caspian recognizes the old man as Lord Rhoop and orders him aboard -- which the dragon Eustace quickly obliges. Caspian calms Lord Rhoop down and reveals himself as the Narnian King.           Rhoop: "My Lord?  You should not have come.  There's no way out of here.  Quickly, turn this ship about, before it's too late!"           Edmund to Caspian: "We have the sword.  Let's go!"             Caspian agrees and orders the ship turned, as Rhoop yells one more warning for all to hear: "Do not think!  Do not let it know your fears, or it will become them!"           Unfortunately, Edmund can't help but close his eyes and think of something terrible.          Edmund: "Oh, no."        Lucy: "Edmund, what did you just think of?"        Edmund: "Oh, I'm sorry," as he runs to the edge of the ship... where a gigantic sea-monster begins to materialize...

After destroying the evil mist and rescuing the sacrificed people, Eustace rejoins Lucy, Edmund, Caspian and Reepicheep.  They sail through a lily covered sea, eventually anchoring on a shore with a massive stationary wave -- guarding the entrance to the inward lying land. Aslan appears to them, tells them well done, and that their journey has come to an end.  He also reveals that His country lies beyond...         Caspian (referring to his noble father who died): "Is my father in Your country?"        Aslan: "You can only find that out for yourself, my son.  But you should know that if you continue, there is no return."        Caspian walks toward the wall of water, stops short of entering, and only places a hand inside.  He then turns back to the others; tears welling up in his eyes.         Edmund: "You're not going?"         Caspian: "I can't imagine my father would be very proud that I gave up what he died for.  I spent too long wanting what was taken from me, and not what was given.  I was given a kingdom.  A people," as he walks to Aslan, "I promise to be a better king."         Aslan: "You already are."             The children also decide not to enter Aslan's Land yet, but to instead return home.                      Reepicheep clears his throat, approaches Aslan and bows: "Your Eminence.  Ever since I can remember, I have dreamt of seeing Your country.  I've had many great adventures in this world, but nothing has dampened that yearning.  I know I am hardly worthy, but with Your permission, I would lay down my sword for the joy of seeing Your country with my own eyes."              Aslan: "My country was made for noble hearts such as yours, no matter how small their bearers be."                    Reepicheep (bowing): "Your Majesty."                   Caspian (to Reep): "No one could be more deserving."                     Edmund: "It's true."             After goodbyes are said, Reepicheep boards and rides a tiny boat up and over the monolithic wave -- and into Aslan's Land forever!

Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Two Telmarines are taking Trumpkin the dwarf up the river in a boat to drown him. They finally stop at an agreed upon spot, lift the dwarf to throw him overboard, but are suddenly shot at with arrows. On the beach are Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy -- weapons in hand: "Drop him!"  The soldiers do -- into the water -- as Susan finishes them off with arrows. Peter pulls Trumpkin from the brink and drags him onto shore, saving the dwarf's life.  Trumpkin (spitting out water): "Drop him! That's the best you can come up with?"  Susan: "A simple 'thank you' would suffice."  Trumpkin (gruffly): "They were doing fine drowning me without your help."  Peter: "Maybe we should have let them."

Prince Caspian and friends are being chased through the forest by a group of angry Telmarine soldiers. With things looking bleak and the soldiers coming in for the kill, suddenly the enemy starts screaming and falling victim in the tall grass. Amazed, Prince Caspian watches as the last soldier is brought down. The mysterious force finally overtakes the Prince -- jumping on his chest with sword drawn -- revealing himself to be the fierce defender of Narnia: Reepicheep the mouse!: "Choose your last words, carefully, Telmarine!"  Prince: "You are a mouse."  Reepicheep: "I was hoping for something a little more original."

Peter mistakes Prince Caspian for an enemy.


Peter continues his fight against King Miraz, the usurping ruler of Narnia. Even though the King thought the duel to be child's play -- fighting a boy only half his age -- Peter eventually knocks the King to the ground and comes in for the kill. The King, however, pleads for respite (a brief pause before continuing), which Peter gives him. But once Peter turns his back, the King cowardly comes at him with a sword. Peter quickly turns, grabs the sword, and runs it through the enemy's side -- defeating the tyrant and saving hundreds of Narnian soldiers.  (Caution: intense scene)

"Years ago, the Telmarines invaded Narnia and now rule by their tyrannical usurper, King Miraz and his wife Queen Prunaprismia. Living with them is Narnia's rightful heir, the young man Caspian (Miraz killed his brother, and Caspian's father, King Caspian IX, to take the throne). As long as Miraz is childless, he is willing to keep Caspian as his heir. But when the Queen gives birth to a son, men are sent to kill Caspian during the night -- showering his cloaked bed with arrows. Fortunately, Caspian's tutor Cornelius (an old Narnia historian) helps Caspian escape just in time, sending him off with a packet of food and Queen Susan's horn, with instructions to use it only at the point of his greatest need.

Lucy urgently pulls Susan from the street corner to join her in the London Underground where Peter is fighting a couple schoolyard bullies. Coming upon the scene himself, Edmund, without hesitation, jumps into the fray to help his older brother. Later while sitting on a bench, Edmund says, "You're welcome."  Peter: "I had it sorted."  Right.

While waiting at a busy London railway station to go home, the four Pevensie children begin yearning for a return to Narnia...  Peter: "How long does he expect us to wait?"  Susan: "I think it's time to accept that we live here. It's no use pretending any different."  One at a time, however, the children begin getting "pinched" by magic -- causing them to quickly hold hands. As a train rushes by, the adjacent wall begins to magically peel away -- transporting the children to a sandy beach on a gorgeously sunny day! They've returned to Narnia, and once realized, begin shedding coats (from the dreary London day) to horse-around in the surf.

Trumpkin the dwarf and the four siblings pull their boat onto shore while still deep in the forest. Spying a large bear, Lucy approaches it with a friendly greeting (knowing that all Narnian animals talk, even though the children haven't been in Narnia for 1300 years). The bear grunts.  Lucy: "It's all right. We're friends." Trumpkin warns Lucy, but it's too late, as the bear charges. The girl runs and stumbles, and as she is about to be mauled, Trumpkin kills it with an arrow (even though Susan has had an arrow drawn as well, but is unable to kill an innocent creature). Edmund: "He was wild."  Peter: "I don't think he could talk at all."  Trumpkin: "Get treated like a dumb animal long enough, that's what you become. You may find Narnia a more savage place than you remember."

Deep in the woods trying to find their way to camp, Peter leads them mistakenly to the edge of a very high cliff...  Peter: "Well, we weren't lost."  Trumpkin the dwarf: "There's a ford near Beruna. How do you feel about swimming?"  Susan: "I'd rather that than walking."  Lucy (looking across the cliff to the other side): "Aslan? It's Aslan! It's Aslan over there! Don't you see? He's right..."  But Aslan is nowhere to be found.  Trumpkin: "Do you see him now?"  Lucy: "I'm not crazy. He was there. He wanted us to follow him."  Peter: "I'm sure there are any number of lions in this wood. Just like that bear."  Lucy: "I think I know Aslan when I see him."  Trumpkin: "Look, I'm not about to jump off a cliff after someone who doesn't exist."  Edmund: "The last time I didn't believe Lucy, I ended up looking pretty stupid."  Peter: "Why wouldn't I have seen him?"  Lucy: "Maybe you weren't looking."

The Telmarines begin to successfully fight back the Narnian army and turn the tide inside the royal castle. After a soldier cuts a weight, a large gate begins to close -- which would trap the Narnian army inside. Acting quickly, a large mythical beast runs to the doorway and props the heavy gate upon his shoulders. Peter quickly calls for retreat as his army runs for the exit. Unfortunately, soldiers fire arrows into the beast holding the door -- killing him and trapping dozens of Narnian fighters. Peter (on the other side) can only stand and watch his friends die one by one as they scream, "In the name of Aslan!"  (Caution: intense scene)

In desperation to defeat the Telmarines, rightful heir Prince Caspian, is talked into using a more powerful ancient magic. Evil creatures create a wall of ice in the altar room -- producing the trapped form of the nefarious White Witch (that Aslan defeated 1300 years before). All the Witch needs to come back to life is "one drop of Adam's blood." Though Caspian resists, the evil creatures hold and cut him, as he hypnotically brings his hand towards hers. The children return just in time to ward off the Witch's creatures. However, in pushing Caspian aside from his trance, Peter is then tempted to touch the White Witch ("Peter, dear...I've missed you...come") -- until Edmund finally runs his blade through from behind, causing the ice wall to crash to the ground.  Edmund: "I know. You had it sorted."  (Caution: intense scene)

Running for her life on horseback, Lucy races through the woods away from a murderous Telmarine. Looking to the side, Lucy notices a creature keeping her pace. A great lion growls, pounces past Lucy, and tackles the soldier off his horse. "Aslan!" yells the young girl, as she quickly runs and hugs the feline's mane.

Retreating from the Narnian army, the evil Telmarine leader and troops head for the only bridge of escape. Stopping suddenly at the entrance, they see Lucy on the other side drawing out a small dagger. The leader is puzzled at the small girl's bravery, but she is soon joined by Aslan the lion. The leader gives the order to charge. His horseman start to race across the bridge as foot soldiers wade into the shallow water. Aslan gives a mighty roar, causing a giant mountain of water to appear and take the form of an elderly man. The man of the river then lifts the bridge on his shoulders, eyes the Telmarine leader for a moment -- before smashing he and his army to smithereens!

Mice soldiers come sadly from battle playing bagpipes and carrying their honored leader, Reepicheep, who is close to dead. Lucy quickly places a drop of her healing elixir into the hero's mouth, bringing him back to full health. Unfortunately, Reepicheep notices his tail has been cut off in battle!  Reepicheep (embarrassed): "I am completely out of countenance. I must crave your indulgence for appearing in this unseemly fashion."  He asks Lucy for a drop more, but the girl says it doesn't work that way. Aslan: "It becomes you well, small one."  Reepicheep: "All the same, great king, I regret that I must withdraw, for a tail is the honor and glory of a mouse (begins to give up his sword)."  Aslan: "Perhaps you think too much of your honor, friend."  The other mice then show their allegiance and loyalty to Reepicheep: "May it please Your High Majesty, we will not bear the shame of wearing an honor denied to our chief," and grab their own tails, swords lifted high...  Aslan (laughing): "Not for the sake of your dignity, but for the love of your people."  Reepicheep's tail immediately appears, as the brave mouse gushes: "From this day forward it will serve as a great reminder of my huge humility!"

Walk the Line

The Robinsons, having been shipwrecked off the coast of a strange island, have fashioned themselves a raft out of debris.  After a long struggle against the rocks and the current, they finally reach the shore.  Mr. Robinson takes stock of their surroundings: "First thing we'd better do is to unload the raft.  Then, uh, put up some sort of shelter for the night."  Mrs. Robinson, mindful of God's protection: "Not the first thing."  She kneels on the beach and bows her head.  The rest of her family follows, stopping to thank God for his miraculous work in their lives.

Mother finds Father sitting alone on the beach, looking rather despondent.  Sitting down next to him, she listens while he tells her that he is struggling with regret: "No one can ever go back and undo what's already done, but, well, I want you to know that I'm sorry things didn't work out.  Not the way I wanted them to."  Father, remorsefully: "It would have been so much better if we'd just stayed in Bern."  Mother puts her arm around her husband, telling him that their decision was well thought-out and made for the right reasons.  Regardless of the results of their plan, she still feels it was right.  Mother: "I thought we settled all this before we left home.  It was a good thing to do.  We were right, and all that hasn't changed just because we were shipwrecked."  His wife's encouragement infuses Father with hope, and he is able to plan once again for the future.  He is even able to look around and see the benefits of their current situation.

A ship full of vicious pirates is firing on the Robinsons in their wrecked boat.  The three men begin to desperately load their cannon, knowing it won't be much defense against the other ship.  In the process, Father discovers a green flag with a black circle in the center.  Thinking quickly, he disappears.  Meanwhile, Fritz and Ernst, who have been busy loading the cannon, notice the pirate ship is turning around.  Confused, but relieved, they give their father the good news.  Fritz: "Do you know what they're up to, Father?"  Silently, he directs their attention to the flag waving at the top of the mast.  Fritz: "What's that?"  Father: "That's a quarantine flag, warning that there's Black Death aboard."  Ernst, the scholar, is astounded: "How did you know that?"  Father, wryly: "Well, I do a bit of reading, too, you know."

Intent on capturing a baby elephant, Francis hasn't noticed the tiger lurking in the bushes.  While he prepares a trap, the tiger is preparing to spring.  Francis's mother calls to him, but he ignores her, determined to catch the elephant.  Just as he succeeds in snaring the animal's leg, the tiger roars, springing out of the trees.  Francis finally sees it, but doesn't want to leave the elephant behind.  While his mother calls his name, frantically trying to find him, Francis throws rocks at the tiger.  Finally, Mother finds Francis, bringing the dogs along with her.  The dogs leap at the tiger and a ferocious fight ensues.  The dogs succeed in chasing away the beast.  When Mother scolds Francis for wandering into the jungle, he asks: "Well, I'm sorry, but...can I keep the baby elephant, anyhow?"

The Robinsons excitedly lead Mother, who is blindfolded, to their brand-new tree house in the jungle.  The three boys are ecstatic to show her the house, which consists of several different levels, linked by stairs and rope bridges.  Even Father can hardly contain his pride over their efforts.  First, they show her the kitchen, where they have fashioned everything from a fridge to a sink out of items from the wreckage and the island.  An intricate water-wheel system provides running water and an outdoor dining area can be used in good weather.  The next level houses the family room, complete with retractable ladder for safety and security.  Then, there are separate bedrooms.  Everywhere are signs of attention to detail...real china from the ship, a large, comfortable bed, bookcases, and glass windows.  A tasseled rope by the bed opens a skylight, allowing for nighttime star-gazing.  Mother is overwhelmed at the work and thoughtfulness her men accomplished for her.

The Robinson men are swinging from vines over a pool of water while Mother watches restfully from the grassy bank.  Whooping and shouting, they are all enjoying themselves, watching the wildlife with awe, and wondering at the beauty of the island paradise.  After sliding down a beautiful waterfall and swinging into the pool, Father eventually sits down next to Mother: "Don't you sometimes feel that this is the kind of life we were meant to live on this earth?  Everything we need, everything right here...right at our fingertips.  You know, if only people could have all this and be satisfied, I don't think there'd be any real problems in the world."

Piqued at Fritz's inattention, Bertie picks up a rifle, coyly suggesting that Fritz teach her how to use it.  Fritz complies, throwing himself earnestly into the task.  Bertie, however, has ulterior motives, and does everything she can to get Fritz to notice her.  Feigning ignorance of the weapon, Bertie ensures that Fritz puts his arm around her.  Then she stares at him, her face inches from his.  Fritz, referring to his supportive arm: "I hope you don't mind?"  Bertie, resting her head on his shoulder: "Why do you think I wanted you to teach me?"  Awareness suddenly dawns on Fritz and he puts down the rifle, taking Bertie into his arms.  Just as they kiss, Ernst shows up and Fritz is called away.  When Ernst offers to resume the lessons, Bertie raises the rifle and fires, hitting a shell in the distance: "I think I have the general idea."

The Robinsons have decided to reward themselves with a day of festivities, after a long period of hard work in their island paradise.  With Mr. Robinson as Master of Ceremonies and Mrs. Robinson providing the edible trophy, the children and Bertie prepare to race.  Their mounts, a donkey, an ostrich, and a zebra, provide humorous antics as their riders fight to keep them on course.  The fourth competitor in the race - - the pet monkey - - is mounted on the family dog, complete with its own little saddle.  The race is full of fun, laughter, and much needed rest for the weary Robinsons.

The Robinsons, expecting a possible pirate attack, have prepared their island home as much as possible.  Now, the day has come, and dozens of vicious pirates are headed their way.  The majority of the family wait at the appointed rock fortress while Ernst and Fritz employ their first two traps.  As the pirates cross the bridge over the stream, the boys pull a rope and the bridge falls apart, dumping many into the water below.  Pulling another rope, they send a number of arrows flying into the backsides of the helpless pirates.  As the men move closer to the rock sanctuary, they are hindered at every turn by more Robinson ingenuity.  Well-hidden pits holding trapped tigers swallow some, while others step on snares and are suspended high in the air.  The Robinsons watch the progress of the pirates, lighting hidden caches of gunpowder, shooting their rifles, and throwing coconut-shell bombs to slow their ascent.  Finally, the combination of an exploding pile of rocks and an avalanche of logs succeed in sending the pirates running.  The Robinsons stand and cheer, having successfully defended their fortress against impossible odds.

Eighty years ago when Lucy was a little girl, her beloved father was carried away by protectors of the fantastical world of faeries and goblins.  She had longed for the day when he would return home as he promised, but he never did (being held prisoner by the magical creatures in a world where he never aged).  The creatures finally bring him home to his gray-haired daughter...looking just as he had when she last saw him eighty years ago.  She remarks that he has finally come back, just as he promised, and forgives him for leaving.  He knows he cannot stay, but before he goes, Lucy is quick to ask if she can go with him this time.  As they hold hands, she is transformed back to the tender age of six -- finally getting a life with her father -- as they disappear into the clouds together.

As Dr. Martin Luther King is giving his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech on the other side of the world, a group of young black girls wearing their Sunday finest are on their way to church.  King: "I accept this honor for our lost ones, whose deaths pave our path."  Walking down the stairs inside the building, the girls are talking about baptism and hair styles.  Their young faces alight with innocent excitement, they speculate on how Mrs. King styles her hair.  One girl stops in front of a stained glass window to describe her styling theory to her friends.  Her words are obliterated by the sound of an explosion.  Glass and wood and other debris fly in slow motion through the air, along with taffeta skirts and shiny patent shoes.  When the dust has settled and everything is silent, the girls are hardly discernable under the pile of rubble that remains of the church.  (Caution: disturbing scene)

Discouraged and weary, Dr. King stands alone in the darkened room.  Going to the phone, he calls his friend, Hallie.  The phone rings in Hallie's home, awakening her and her husband from sleep.  She answers with a tired voice.  King: "Hallie.  I need to hear the Lord's voice."  Hallie immediately understands: "Surely, Martin.  Surely."  Picking up the phone, she moves it away from where her husband still sleeps.  She begins to sing her prayer for Martin into the phone: ♪ "Precious Lord, take my hand.  Lead me home.  Let me stand." ♪ In the darkness, Martin closes his eyes, listening to her words: ♪ "I am tired.  I am weak.  I am worn through the storm.  Through the night.  Lord, lead me on...to the light." ♪

Dr. King and Ralph are sitting in prison, along with the rest of the demonstrators.  Dr. King is discouraged by their lack of progress in the civil rights movement: "I'm tired, Ralphy.  Tiring of this."  Ralph encourages his friend: "Eyes on the prize, Martin."  Martin wonders aloud if the struggle for equality is worth the sacrifices, or if the generational bondage can even be broken.  He remembers with Ralph the men who have suffered and died for their cause: "A man stands up, only to be struck down.  And what happens to the people he led?"  Dr. King sighs, shaking his head, feeling hopeless: "What are we doing, Ralphy?"  Ralph, calmly: "We take it piece by piece.  Like we been doin'.  We build the path as we can.  Rock by rock."  King still struggles with his worry and fear: "They're gonna ruin me so they can ruin this movement.  They are."  Ralph, quoting from Matthew 6: "'Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your Heavenly Father doth feed them.  Are you not worth much more than they?  And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?'"  Dr. King nods, uplifted by the truth of God's Word: "Yes, sir."

Amelia greets Coretta, who has come specifically to meet with Malcolm X and hopefully stave off a violent demonstration.  Coretta looks nervous and confesses to Amelia that she wished she felt prepared for the important work she had to do.  Amelia looks Coretta in the eye: "I'll tell you what I know to be true.  It helps me in times when I'm feeling unsure.  If you'd like."  Coretta, eagerly: "Oh, please do, Miss Boynton."  Amelia, proudly: "I know that we are descendants of a mighty people, who gave civilization to the world.  People who survived the hulls of slave ships across vast oceans.  People who innovate and create and love, despite pressures and tortures unimaginable.  They are in our bloodstream.  Pumping our hearts every second.  They've prepared you.  You are already prepared."

Dr. King and James have come to the coroner's office to grieve with Cager over the loss of his grandson, Jimmie Lee.  The men walk down the white hallway towards the bent man at the end.  Cager is leaning on the glass that separates him from the body of his grandson, crying.  Dr. King approaches him gently: "There are no words to sooth you, Mr. Lee.  There are no words.  But I can tell you one thing for certain.  God was the first to cry.  He was the first to cry for your boy."

Dr. King is speaking at the funeral of Jimmie Lee, a young man martyred to the civil rights cause.  Dr. King: "When I heard President Kennedy had been shot and killed, and when I heard, just yesterday, that Malcolm X, who stood in this very church three weeks ago, had been shot and killed, I turned to my wife, Coretta, and said the same thing I often say when one of our leaders is struck down."  Dr. King looks out at the audience, Jimmy's casket in full view in front: "Our lives are not fully lived if we're not willing to die for those we love and for what we believe."

The Reverend Williams is leading hundreds of black protesters on a peaceful march from Selma to Montgomery.  The protesters cross the bridge to find a posse of white deputies waiting for them, led by Major Cloud.  Williams asks to speak with Cloud, but the major refuses.  Instead, he orders his men to attack the peaceful protesters.  Dozens of white officers armed with clubs and whips dash at the crowd, throwing blows at anyone they can catch.  People begin screaming and running, but men on horseback chase after them.  No mercy is shown on women or the elderly, who are beaten as severely as the men.  Americans watching the news coverage from home on television are in tears as they watch the brutality that is taking place in Selma.  But the white spectators in Selma are cheering and screaming for the 'n-----s' to go home.  Even the news reporter has to bite back his tears as he covers the brutal attack that became known as "Bloody Sunday."  (Caution: n-word used, violence)

Two pastors are leaving a cafe, discussing whether King was wrong for cancelling the march to Montgomery.  Both pastors are white, and have come to the state in order to march in support of civil rights.  One is angry, and feels King didn't deliver on a promise.  The other, Reeb, believes King acted on what he believed to be God's will.  He likens the situation to the times he has preached feeling that God is directing his words - -the times when he has scrapped the plan and the notes and allowed himself to be guided solely by God.  The other pastor nods, understanding.  Reeb: "I think that's what happened to Dr. King up there on the bridge today.  He kneeled down, prayed to God, and got an answer.  And he was brave enough to follow that answer, and I, for one, don't fault him for it."

Dr. King is preparing to march from Selma to Montgomery to protest the lack of black voting privileges in Alabama.  John tells King that he is worried about the final leg of the march and is uncertain he'll be able to protect the civil rights leader in that portion of the state.  He urges Dr. King to drive rather than march, and to scrap his plans for a concluding speech.  Dr. King refuses to change his plans: "I can't hide."  John: "Don't you want to protect yourself, Doctor?"  John reminds King that he should want to live to see the results of all his hard labor.  Dr. King tells John that he must walk with the people and considers the risk worth taking.  King: "I'm no different than anybody else.  I want to live long and be happy.  But I'll not be focusing on what I want today.  I'm focused on what God wants."

Miss Daisy is getting into her car (a new one that her son bought for her).  She starts it up and switches the gears, beginning to drive backward.  She pushes down on the accelerator and squeals in surprise when the car begins to speed up instead of slow down.  She tries to shift into a different gear, but doesn't do it successfully, and the car continues its backward path, straight into a bunch of bushes.  Miss Daisy screams as the car rolls halfway off the embankment between her house and the neighbor's house.  She pushes past the branches now sticking through her car window and gets out of the car.  She walks around the front of the car, just in time to see it roll the rest of the way into the neighbor's yard.

Oscar, an employee of the Werthan Cotton Company, is stuck inside the freight elevator.  Several men are on the ground floor, all shouting advice at the same time.  None of the advice is helping.  The owner of the company, Boolie, arrives and adds his own ideas: "Fiddle with the lever."  Oscar: "It fiddled out.  I done everything I know how."  Boolie tells his secretary to call the elevator company, but she tells him they're too backed up to fix it soon.  With an important job hanging in the balance, Boolie wants the elevator fixed immediately.  He tells her to call them again, and the other employees resume shouting out their advice to Oscar.  Meanwhile, Hoke has entered the building and hears all the commotion around the elevator.  He yells up some specific instructions to Oscar that cause the elevator to begin working again.  Everyone applauds as Oscar is able to get back to the ground.  Boolie asks Hoke how he knew how to fix the elevator.  Hoke: "I used to drive for the Avondale Dairy, sir.  They had an old, sorry elevator worse than this one here."

Hoke is pleased because he has finally convinced Miss Daisy to let him drive her somewhere.  (Daisy's son hired Hoke as chauffeur, but she's too proud to want to be driven anywhere.)  Miss Daisy tells Hoke that she can run a car all by herself.  As she's talking, she interrupts herself to tell Hoke that he's speeding.  Hoke: "We only doin' about 19 miles an hour."  Miss Daisy: "I like to go under the speed limit."  Hoke: "But the speed limit is 35 here."  Miss Daisy: "The slower you go, the more you save on gas."  Hoke, mumbling under his breath: "Ain't hardly moving.  Might as well walk to the Piggly Wiggly."  Miss Daisy, indignantly: "Is this your car?  Do you pay for the gas?  My fine son may think I'm losing my abilities, but I'm still in control of what goes on in my car!"  Miss Daisy continues to exert her control all the way to the store.

Miss Daisy is leaving temple after service.  She walks down the steps beside two of her friends, and all three ladies have their mouths open when they see Miss Daisy's chauffeur waiting out front with her Cadillac.  Miss Daisy, embarrassed, quickly gets into the car.  Hoke, the chauffeur, wonders if he's done something to upset Miss Daisy.  Miss Daisy: "You had the car parked right in front of the front door of the temple like I was the Queen of Romania!  Everybody saw you!  Didn't I tell you to wait for me in the back?"  Hoke argues that two other chauffeurs were sitting right behind him, so Miss Daisy wasn't the only one being picked up in front.  Miss Daisy: "Made me look like a fool!  Miriam and Beulah and them...I could see what they were thinking when we came out of service."  Hoke: "What's that?"  Miss Daisy: "That I was trying to pretend I was rich."  Miss Daisy, who came from a poor family but is now wealthy, worries that people will think she's trying to put on airs.  She tries to hide her wealth so no one will think she's rich.

Miss Daisy has called her son, Boolie, to her house for an "emergency."  Boolie arrives, expecting to find a disaster and instead finds his mother with an empty can of salmon and an accusation that her chauffeur is stealing.  Boolie raises his eyebrows in disbelief: "You mean he stole a can of salmon?"  Miss Daisy.  "Oh, I knew.  I knew there was something funny.  They all take things, you know.  So I counted."  Boolie is having a hard time taking his mother seriously: "You counted?"  Miss Daisy: "The silverware first.  Then the linen napkins.  And then I went into the pantry."  She moves into the pantry and Boolie reluctantly follows.  Miss Daisy, dramatically: "And the first thing that caught my eye was a hole behind the lima beans.  And I knew right away...there were only eight cans of salmon!  I had nine!  Three for a dollar, on sale."  Boolie has had enough.  He tries to pay his mother for the 33-cent salmon, but she says she doesn't want money, she wants her "things" back.  Boolie doesn't believe that Hoke stole.  It's obvious that Boolie doesn't consider taking food stealing, especially when he walks to his mother's fridge and begins eating out of it, uninvited.  Miss Daisy is convinced her chauffeur's character is black, claiming he'll never admit to his misdeed.  Hoke arrives at the house and Boolie asks to have a talk with him.  Miss Daisy stands self-righteously next to Boolie, waiting to accuse her employee.  However, before either one of them can say a word about it, Hoke pulls out a new can of salmon and tells Miss Daisy that he had eaten one the day before, but brought her one back to replace it.  Boolie tries to hide his smile and Miss Daisy quickly changes the subject by leaving to get dressed.

Florine, the wife of a wealthy businessman, is preparing to host a Christmas dinner for friends and relatives.  Boolie, her husband, is listening to Christmas music and can hear her yelling at the maid in the kitchen.  Finally, Florine calls him into the room to help her chew out the maid.  Boolie reluctantly joins them, hearing his wife's shrill voice all the way to the kitchen.  Florine, to the maid: "Do you have any idea what it takes to give a Christmas reception?  Do you?  It takes an eye for detail.  I told you a million times, Katie Bell, write it down!  More I cannot do."  Boolie walks into the room and Florine turns to him, almost wailing: "We're out of coconut!"  Boolie can't help a little laugh escaping: "I'm sure we can manage."  Katie Bell, the unfortunate maid, tells Boolie that she had told Florine they were out of coconut.  Florine: "But you didn't write it down!  Now, I don't need to stand around and listen to excuses on Christmas day!"  She turns angrily to her husband before storming out of the kitchen: "Maybe you can figure out how to serve ambrosia to sixty people without coconut.  I give up!"  Once his wife is gone, Boolie turns to the distraught Katie Bell, encouragingly: "Don't worry, Katie Bell.  It isn't quite the end of the world."

Miss Daisy and her black chauffeur, Hoke, are driving through Alabama and have stopped by the side of the road to eat their lunch.  Suddenly, a threatening voice calls out to Hoke: "Hey, boy!"  Hoke turns around to see two police officers walking towards him suspiciously.  Officer: "What do you think you're doing with this car (a Cadillac)?"  Miss Daisy: "This is my car, officer."  The officer asks to see Hoke's license and the car's registration.  He looks at the registration, asking Miss Daisy about her last name.  She tells him she has a German background.  The officer looks her up and down.  He then looks carefully at Hoke's license and back again at Hoke before returning the license to him.  The two officers walk away.  Hoke and Miss Daisy, their break ruined, drive away.  Officer, to his partner: "An old n----r and an old Jew woman taking off down the road together.  Now that is one sorry sight."  (Caution: 'n----r' used as racial slur)

Boolie has come to tell his mother that he won't be attending the dinner being given for Martin Luther King, Jr.  Boolie: "You know I believe Martin Luther King has done some mighty fine things."  Miss Daisy: "Boolie, if you don't want to go, why don't you just come right out and say so?"  Boolie: "I want to go.  You know how I feel about him.  I still have to conduct business in this town."  Miss Daisy, disappointed in her son: "I see.  Werthen Bag will go out of business if you attend the King dinner."  Boolie: "Not exactly.  But a lot of men I do business with wouldn't like it.  They might...snicker a little and call me Martin Luther Werthen behind my back.  Maybe I wouldn't hear about certain lunch meetings at the commerce club."  Boolie worries that people might start giving their business to his competitors if he supported the black community.  Boolie, sighing: "I don't know.  Maybe it wouldn't happen, but sometimes that's the way things work."

Miss Daisy is attending a dinner given for Martin Luther King, Jr.  She is in a crowd of mostly white, wealthy Southerners who are all listening to Dr. King's speech.  King: "There are in the white South millions of people of goodwill, whose voice is yet unheard, whose cost is yet unclear, and whose courageous acts are yet unseen.  These millions are called upon to gird their courage to speak out and to offer leadership that is needed.  History will have to record the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the vitriolic words and the violent actions of the bad people, but the appalling silence and indifference of the good people.  Our generation will have to repent not only for the words and acts of the children of darkness, but also for the fears and apathy of the children of light."

Hoke, a chauffeur, arrives at his elderly employer's house and is surprised she isn't downstairs waiting for him.  Suddenly, she comes down the stairs, hair bedraggled, and still in her pajamas.  She is searching frantically for her school papers.  Hoke, confused, has never seen Miss Daisy in such a state.  At first, he can't figure out why she, a retired teacher, would be looking for school papers.  But, as her ramblings go on, it becomes clearer that Miss Daisy is losing her mind.  Hoke follows her around the house, trying to help her, but she won't listen to reason.  Hoke is genuinely worried as Miss Daisy becomes more and more agitated.  Finally, Hoke gets on the phone and calls Miss Daisy's son to come over.  Hearing the concern in Hoke's voice, her son agrees to come immediately.

Daisy is severely agitated after suffering an episode of age-related dementia (see Scene # CV04297).  Very independent, she doesn't want to be a trouble to anyone and worries that her life is now over.  Hoke, her chauffeur of many years, is trying to encourage her.  Hoke: "Miss Daisy, now, ain't nothing wrong with you.  Your mind done take a turn this morning, that's all.  You're gonna snap right back, quick as you let yourself."  Daisy feels helpless to get better.  Hoke tries to get her to see past her problems and realize her blessings: "You a lucky woman, you know that?  You rich.  You got folks that care about what happen to you."  Daisy: "I'm being trouble.  I don't want to be trouble to anybody."  Hoke: "Now, you want something to cry about, I'm gonna run you out there to that state home, let you see what's lyin' around out there."  Daisy: "I'm sorry.  I'm so sorry... Hoke, you're my best friend.  No, really.  You are."  She takes his hand.  Moved, Hoke stands quietly, holding her hand.
