ScreenVue is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

ScreenVue first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, digital, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes playing just a few seconds of a movie all the way up to showing the full-length feature.

Each *Total Producer Church Video License* (or any *Church Video Licence* globally) comes with free ScreenVue Vault access.

The ScreenVue Vault offers 14,000+ Scene Ideas, Views and Downloads from a variety of movies and resources.

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for 600,000+ songs and 7,000+ publishers and song owners. Currently, global churches are using 600,000+ CCLI licenses.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show all, or any portion of, thousands of movie titles from a number of movie producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from 3,000+ producers are represented by the Church Video License, including the titles that contain all the scenes that are part of the ScreenVue Vault.

Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC) was founded in 1986 by former MGM executives and an MPAA attorney. Their goal was to develop a process to help the public leverage the work of the creative community without infringing on copyright.

## How We Use Cookies

__"Where can I find my Access Key to sign-in with?"__
- Every Church Video Licence globally and every *Total Producer Church Video License* (or *Standard CVLI Video License*) in the USA comes with FREE access to the ScreenVue Vault, which is unlocked with your Access Key. Your Access Key will be included in the monthly CVL update emails you receive. If you can't find your Key, please email us at: [support@screenvue.com ](mailto:support@screenvue.com "support@screenvue.com")

__"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

__"In the USA, why don't I have access as a CVL Family Values Package member?"__
- The *CVL Family Values Package* offers only 65+ studios and producers, and does not include any major/minor Hollywood studios - and does not come with ScreenVue Vault access. 
- The *CVL Total Producer Package* offers 4,000+ studios and producers, including every major Hollywood studio and most of the major/minors, and comes with complimentary access to the new ScreenVue Vault: unlocked with a provided Access Key.

__"What is the difference between Scene Ideas, Scene Views, and Scene Downloads?"__
- The ScreenVue Vault offers THREE different types of Scenes:

__"What are the restrictions for streaming our service and including a movie scene? "__
- For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie (the entire film or just a scene), the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming a movie scene - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream a movie scene inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly).

Death floats high in the clouds, on his way to capture his next victim.  As the unseen spirit moves towards his quarry, he narrates, dryly: "One small fact:  you are going to die.  Despite every effort, no one lives forever.  Sorry to be such a spoiler.  My advice is, when the time comes, don't panic.  It doesn't seem to help."  Death descends through the clouds to hover over a moving train.  Moving alongside the train for a few seconds, Death again speaks to the watcher: "I guess I should introduce myself properly.  But, then again, you'll meet me soon enough.  Not before your time, of course.  I make it a policy to avoid the living."  Death passes into the train, moving slowly down the aisle.  He looks at the passengers around him...women sleeping, children coughing, men silent and watchful.  Finally, he stops before a small family.  The mother is quietly singing a lullaby to her sleeping son.  The daughter, seemingly sensing Death, looks up and starts at the sight of her brother.  Liesel, whispering, draws her mother's attention to her son: "Mama!"  The boy's eyes are wide and fixed, and a small trickle of blood drips from his nose.  Death has claimed his own.  (Caution: disturbing scene)

Liesel is in her school auditorium, assembled with the rest of her classmates to sing in the choir.  The beautiful children are dressed in government-issued uniforms and resemble miniature soldiers.  Rows of bright-eyed, young faces sing earnestly in front of three huge Nazi flags.  The sweet innocence of their voices clashes jarringly with the words of the song they sing: ♪ "We want to pave the way of freedom for German effort.  We do not create a brother-pact with Jews or non-Germanics.  Because they falsify the liberty certificate of Germany's people." ♪  While the singing continues in the background, a view of the street outside is shown, where Nazi soldiers are busy working for the "German effort." The soldiers drag Jewish men and women from their homes and viciously beat them.  The sound of screaming mingles with the angelic voices of the choir as the soldiers break into businesses and destroy anything Jewish.

Footage of the great track athlete, Jesse Owens, shows in flashes as a young boy attempts to re-enact his greatest race.  Rudy, having painting his skin black with mud to more closely resemble his hero, sprints down the track in his town, pretending that he is Jesse Owens.  He finishes the race and raises his arms in victory: "He's done it!  He's made history!  Jesse Owens is the fastest man alive!"  Suddenly, a neighbor grabs his arm angrily.  The furious man drags Rudy home by the ear, threatening his father with excommunication from the Nazi party if he doesn't teach his son better.  Later, Rudy's father bathes him, trying to remove the dirt from Rudy's skin.  He kneels, looking Rudy in the eye: "Son, you can't go around painting yourself black, you hear?"  Rudy: "Why not?"  Father: "Because you shouldn't want to be black people."  Rudy, confused: "Why?"  Father, stumped: "Because I say so."

Liesel stares at the pile of burning books, longing to read their forbidden words.  Moving slowly, she creeps toward the pile.  She looks around, making sure no one is watching, before reaching for a smoldering book lying on the cobblestones.  It burns her fingers and she drops it with a gasp.  Quickly, she picks it up again, hiding it in her coat.  Just then, she is caught in the lights of the mayor's car and she stares fearfully into the eyes of the mayor's wife.  The car passes without incident and Liesel is relieved.  Her relief lasts only until her father appears, wondering where she's been.  Liesel and her father walk slowly home, Liesel trying desperately to hide her stolen plunder.  Unfortunately, the book continues to smolder inside her coat, and smoke rises out of her collar to choke her.  Her father, concerned about her cough: "What is it?"  Liesel: "Nothing."  The smoke attacks and Liesel coughs again.  Father: "Are you sick?"  Liesel: "Nein.  I'm fine."  Liesel coughs again.  Father, greatly concerned: "Tell me!  What is the matter with you?"  Liesel's violent coughing causes the book to fall from her coat.  Her father picks it up, quickly looking around to see if anyone has noticed: "You stole it?"  Liesel, guiltily: "Sorry, Papa."  (Caution: h-word used as profanity)

Liesel watches as her parents help a sick stranger onto the empty bed in her room.  She doesn't understand why he is there or why her parents look so frightened.  (They are helping to hide the son of a Jewish friend from the Nazis.)  Hans directs Liesel to sit on the bed next to him: "I have something very important to tell you, Liesel."  The man explains that the boy's father had given up his life for Hans.  Hans, in turn, gave the boy's family his word that he would help them whenever they needed it.  The time had now come to fulfill that promise.  And, although it was going to put his own life and the lives of his family in danger, Hans was determined to keep his word.  Now, he requires Liesel to make a promise of her own: "I need you to give me your word that you will not tell anyone about our visitor."  Liesel solemnly nods, agreeing to keep the secret.  Hans, looking steadily into Liesel's eyes: "A person is only as good as their word, Liesel."

Max gives Liesel a Christmas gift of a homemade journal.  The only writing on the blank pages is one Hebrew word printed in large letters on the first page.  Max tells Liesel it is the word "write."  Max: "In my religion, we're taught that every living thing...every leaf, every bird...is only alive because it contains the secret word for life.  That's the only difference between us and the lump of clay.  A word."

Air raid sirens blare as the residents of Heaven Street run through the darkness to the appointed shelter.  The men, women, and children huddle underground in the near-darkness, listening fearfully to the sounds of bombs striking the ground above them.  Suddenly, Hans begins to play a light-hearted tune on his accordion, and the attention of many is drawn from the bombs to the music.

Neighbors gather in curiosity and fear as Mr. Lehman is dragged from his home by Nazi soldiers.  Whisperings reveal that Lehman has concealed his Jewish identity from all of his German friends.  As the soldiers drag the Jew into their car, Lehman pleads his loyalty to the country of his birth: "My son is in the army!  He's fighting on the front!"  Seeing a close friend in the crowd, Lehman looks at him, pleading for his intercession: "You know me!  Please!  I'm German!"  Hans watches Lehman's friend's silence and can stand by no longer.  He approaches the Nazi commander and vouches for Lehman: "I've known this man my whole life.  We all have.  He's a good person."  Coldly, the commander takes down Hans's name, presumably for his future punishment.  Hans doesn't let this threat deter him.  He grabs the commander's arm: "Please!  He's a good man!"  The commander pushes Hans to the ground and drives away with his prisoner.  After the soldiers leave, Hans is helped to his feet by his daughter and her friend, but the rest of those watching conspicuously ignore him.

Soldiers and survivors are searching through the rubble of Heaven Street, where bombs have just destroyed most of the buildings.  Most of the people pulled from the wreckage are dead, but Liesel is found alive.  As soldiers help her out of her living tomb, she looks around in shock at her surroundings.  She cries out in confusion: "Mama?  Papa?"  Suddenly, she sees her mother's body on the ground and kneels beside it, mourning.  Looking over, she sees the body of her father and she grieves for him in turn.

A soldier carries a young girl away from the wreckage of her bombed-out street.  He bends, laying her gently down on a stretcher.  Another survivor approaches with a blanket and covers the sleeping girl.  Death, always close-by in such a disaster, observes the contrast between the man-made suffering and the man-made relief: "In my job, I'm always finding humans at their best...and their worst.  I see their ugliness...and their beauty, and I wonder how the same thing can be both."
