ScreenVue is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

ScreenVue first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, digital, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes playing just a few seconds of a movie all the way up to showing the full-length feature.

Each *Total Producer Church Video License* (or any *Church Video Licence* globally) comes with free ScreenVue Vault access.

The ScreenVue Vault offers 14,000+ Scene Ideas, Views and Downloads from a variety of movies and resources.

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for 600,000+ songs and 7,000+ publishers and song owners. Currently, global churches are using 600,000+ CCLI licenses.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show all, or any portion of, thousands of movie titles from a number of movie producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from 3,000+ producers are represented by the Church Video License, including the titles that contain all the scenes that are part of the ScreenVue Vault.

Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC) was founded in 1986 by former MGM executives and an MPAA attorney. Their goal was to develop a process to help the public leverage the work of the creative community without infringing on copyright.

## How We Use Cookies

__"Where can I find my Access Key to sign-in with?"__
- Every Church Video Licence globally and every *Total Producer Church Video License* (or *Standard CVLI Video License*) in the USA comes with FREE access to the ScreenVue Vault, which is unlocked with your Access Key. Your Access Key will be included in the monthly CVL update emails you receive. If you can't find your Key, please email us at: [support@screenvue.com ](mailto:support@screenvue.com "support@screenvue.com")

__"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

__"In the USA, why don't I have access as a CVL Family Values Package member?"__
- The *CVL Family Values Package* offers only 65+ studios and producers, and does not include any major/minor Hollywood studios - and does not come with ScreenVue Vault access. 
- The *CVL Total Producer Package* offers 4,000+ studios and producers, including every major Hollywood studio and most of the major/minors, and comes with complimentary access to the new ScreenVue Vault: unlocked with a provided Access Key.

__"What is the difference between Scene Ideas, Scene Views, and Scene Downloads?"__
- The ScreenVue Vault offers THREE different types of Scenes:

__"What are the restrictions for streaming our service and including a movie scene? "__
- For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie (the entire film or just a scene), the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming a movie scene - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream a movie scene inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly).

Kim and Jay are playing on large rocks bordering the ocean.  As the violent white waves break against the rocks, Kim tosses a ball to Sophie, her dog.  Suddenly, the ball goes rolling down the rocks toward the water.  Kim yells as Sophie chases after the ball.  Jay, hearing the yell, runs to get the ball before the dog can fall into the water.  Just after he throws the ball back toward Kim, a large wave swallows the rock he is standing on, sucking him into the ocean.  Jay struggles to swim against the turbulent current, but he is helpless against its power.  His body, sapped of strength, floats under the surface as Jay begins to lose consciousness.  Suddenly, a hand reaches into the water and pulls Jay out.  He gasps for breath as a surfer hauls him onto his board and swims him to shore.

After being rescued from drowning by a surfer (see Scene # CV06348), Jay is determined to learn the sport himself.  Lugging his father's duct-taped old board, he walks toward the water.  Spotting his savior, Frosty, riding the waves on his board, Jay stops for a minute to admire his skill.  A look of grim determination settles on his face and Jay begins swimming out into the ocean.  As wave after wave pummels him, the boy comes up spluttering from each.  Still, he struggles against the current, trying to get out far enough to catch a wave.  Blond, a more experienced surfer, sits calmly in the water, watching Jay fight to stay on his board.  The boy shakes his head as Jay gets knocked off yet again.  When Jay resurfaces, blood is streaming down his chin.  Blond approaches him: "Hey, man, you gotta go in.  You're bleeding."  Jay, climbing back on his board: "I can't.  Not until I get up."  Blond: "Dude, believe me, nobody gets up their first time."  Jay ignores him and starts to turn back toward the waves.  Blond decides to help him out with some advice on timing the waves.  With Blond's advice, Jay is able to stand on his board and ride a wave to shore.  Blood dripping down his chin, he smiles.

Frosty is giving Jay a ride home after the boy watched him surf some of the biggest waves on the coast.  As they get out of the van, Jay tells Frosty that he wants to surf the big waves.  Frosty: "Not going to happen."  Jay: "Why not?"  Frosty: "Because untrained boys don't step in the ring with Mike Tyson, that's why."  Jay, brimming with adolescent confidence: "I can handle it."  Frosty, who has surfed those waves for 20 years, tells the boy that the strength and skill necessary to survive those conditions has to be cultivated.  Jay insists he's strong enough to take on the challenge.  Frosty grabs Jay's hands, telling the boy to push as hard against him as he can.  Jay shoves with all his might, but is quickly backed into the garage door.  Frosty: "Is that it?"  He stops pushing when the boy cries out in pain: "Okay.  You ain't strong enough."  Jay, still undaunted, follows Frosty into his garage, telling him that he surfs every day.  Frosty is unimpressed: "But those are normal waves.  Surfing normal waves is about how you perform when everything goes right.  Now, big-wave surfing, that's a different ball game.  That's about how you perform when everything goes wrong."

Frosty is giving Jay a lesson in surfing the big waves.  The two stand on the beach, watching the waves crash.  Jay: "There's no way to paddle out there, especially with long boards."  Frosty smiles, promising the boy that the task is not impossible.  He tells Jay to give it a shot.  Jay paddles out, but is quickly overcome by the big waves.  After several failed attempts, he gives up and allows the current to carry him back to shore.  Flopping on the beach, he catches his breath while Frosty walks toward him.  Frosty, smiling knowingly: "So, you made it all of thirty yards."  Frosty tells the boy that he approached the waves from the wrong direction: "Let's take a look at what you missed."  Frosty points to a group of large rocks off to the side that are taking a beating from the crashing waves.  The waves, trapped against the rocks, are forced back out to the ocean, creating what Frosty calls a "conveyor belt" for surfers.  Frosty paddles out to show Jay what he means.  Swimming toward the rocks instead of straight into the waves, as Jay did, Frosty is carried out to sea by the power of the current.  When he returns to shore, he instructs the boy: "So, today's lesson was about the power of observation.  Simple fact is, you got two choices.  You can fight things head-on, or you can observe the laws of nature.  Because if you look hard enough, there's always a way through it."

Jay opens the back door of the pizza parlor and sees his friend, Blond, engaging in a drug deal.  One of the dealers notices Jay watching and says, snidely: "Looks like your girlfriend's keeping tabs on you."  Blond looks over his shoulder, spotting Jay.  When the dealers have left, Blond approaches his friend, defensively: "What's this?  You my keeper all of a sudden?"  Jay, who had spoken no words of censure to his friend, senses his defensiveness stems from his own guilt: "You having this conversation with me or your conscience, Blond?"  Jay hands his friend the keys to the parlor, telling him to lock up.

Frosty is taking Jay free-diving to demonstrate the dangers lying under the surface of the area of the ocean he plans to surf.  Frosty explains to the boy that the depth of the reef doubles the chance of drowning.  The two are sitting at the bottom of the ocean, holding their breath, when a huge shark swims toward them.  Jay's eyes widen in fear.  Frosty grabs his arm to prevent him from bolting and alerting the shark to their presence.  He holds up a hand, trying to keep the boy calm.  When the shark passes, he shoves the boy to the surface where their guide is waiting with a shotgun ready in case the shark decides to attack.  Once safely onboard the boat, Jay takes deep, shuddering breaths.  Frosty: "What happened down there?"  Jay: "What do you mean, 'What happened'?  I just saw a 15-foot shark!"  Frosty: "Why'd you panic?"  Jay shakes his head: "Just fear, I guess."  Frosty: "All right, well, one thing you got to know...fear and panic are two separate emotions.  Fear is healthy.  Panic is deadly."  Frosty tells Jay that when the big waves come, fear is an inevitable part of the process.  Frosty: "But you panic out there, like you just did, you die."  Jay: "Well, if you're scared to death, how do you not panic?"  Frosty: "By identifying the fear and what it is you're afraid of.  Not just out there, but in life."  (Caution: "piss" word used)

It is the day of his wife's funeral, and Frosty is staring out at the waves, lost in his grief.  Frosty's father-in-law approaches him: "My grandchildren are wondering where their father is."  Frosty: "No, they're wondering where their mother is, sir."  Grandfather: "Then tell them."  Frosty: "I don't know what to say."  Grandfather: "Tell them the truth.  She's at the side of God in heaven."  Frosty laughs mirthlessly: "Well, I'm not sure I believe that right now."  The grandfather looks away, thoughtful.  He offers to take the children for a few days.  Frosty nods.  Grandfather: "Those two children have lost their mother.  Now don't deny them the comfort of their father."

Frosty has just lost his beloved wife to an unexpected stroke.  Jay, suspecting his friend of planning suicide, has paddled his surf board for miles in search of the grieving man.  Finally, he finds him adrift on his surf board, waiting for death.  Jay, angrily: "What are you doing?  You can't just walk away from everything!"  Frosty: "Why not?  Huh?  Why not?"  Jay doesn't answer.  Frosty: "She's all I had, Jay.  She's all I ever knew."  Jay: "All I know, Frost, is what you told me.  If you look hard enough, there's always a way through it."  Frosty: "But what if I don't have the strength, Jay?  Which pillar do I lean on then?"  Jay: "The fifth one."  Frosty: "Which one is that?"  Jay: "It's me."  Giving his friend a drink of water, Jay orders him to start paddling to shore.  The two men begin paddling together.

While friends and family watch from shore, sixteen-year-old Jay faces the biggest waves of his life.  As the young surfer mounts his board at the crest of a wave, a magazine photographer captures the few moments of exhilaration the surfer experiences before the wave thrusts him from his board.  Overcome by the weight of the waves, Jay is buried down under the water, his board bobbing at the surface.  Jay's mentor, Frosty, watches in fear for any sign that Jay has survived.  While Jay struggles under the turbulent water, trying to break through to the surface, Frosty counts the minutes he is without oxygen.  Frosty is on the verge of giving up hope when Jay's head finally appears above the water.  His friends watch in relief as Jay swims out to the boat that has retrieved his board.  Expecting the surfer to be finished for the day, the owner of the boat begins to pull Jay aboard.  Jay declines, asking instead for his board to be returned.  The boat owner smiles in admiration of the boy's perseverance.  Jay's girlfriend watches him paddle back out toward the waves and asks Frosty what the boy is doing.  Frosty, impressed by Jay's determination: "He came to surf Mavericks."

The infamous Mavericks, the fabled giant waves, have drawn dozens of surfers prepared to risk their lives for the thrill of surfing the biggest waves of the decade.  Among the surfers is sixteen-year-old Jay, who has trained for months for this moment.  As he paddles out to the waves, he thinks to himself, recalling his belief that his life on Earth would be cut short.  Jay's desire to conquer Mavericks partly stems from his desire to live life to the fullest: "...in that moment I'll know that I'm alive."  Jay's friends and family watch with bated breath from shore as he mounts his board at the crest of a huge wave.  The water is moving so fast that it resembles an avalanche of white, completely obscuring Jay from view.  The viewers on shore watch for several tense moments, waiting to see if Jay will emerge safely from the white waves.  When he does, a cheer goes up from the crowd.  Jay rides the wave back to shore, where his mentor is there to congratulate him.
