ScreenVue is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

ScreenVue first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, digital, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes playing just a few seconds of a movie all the way up to showing the full-length feature.

Each *Total Producer Church Video License* (or any *Church Video Licence* globally) comes with free ScreenVue Vault access.

The ScreenVue Vault offers 14,000+ Scene Ideas, Views and Downloads from a variety of movies and resources.

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for 600,000+ songs and 7,000+ publishers and song owners. Currently, global churches are using 600,000+ CCLI licenses.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show all, or any portion of, thousands of movie titles from a number of movie producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from 3,000+ producers are represented by the Church Video License, including the titles that contain all the scenes that are part of the ScreenVue Vault.

Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC) was founded in 1986 by former MGM executives and an MPAA attorney. Their goal was to develop a process to help the public leverage the work of the creative community without infringing on copyright.

## How We Use Cookies

__"Where can I find my Access Key to sign-in with?"__
- Every Church Video Licence globally and every *Total Producer Church Video License* (or *Standard CVLI Video License*) in the USA comes with FREE access to the ScreenVue Vault, which is unlocked with your Access Key. Your Access Key will be included in the monthly CVL update emails you receive. If you can't find your Key, please email us at: [support@screenvue.com ](mailto:support@screenvue.com "support@screenvue.com")

__"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

__"In the USA, why don't I have access as a CVL Family Values Package member?"__
- The *CVL Family Values Package* offers only 65+ studios and producers, and does not include any major/minor Hollywood studios - and does not come with ScreenVue Vault access. 
- The *CVL Total Producer Package* offers 4,000+ studios and producers, including every major Hollywood studio and most of the major/minors, and comes with complimentary access to the new ScreenVue Vault: unlocked with a provided Access Key.

__"What is the difference between Scene Ideas, Scene Views, and Scene Downloads?"__
- The ScreenVue Vault offers THREE different types of Scenes:

__"What are the restrictions for streaming our service and including a movie scene? "__
- For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie (the entire film or just a scene), the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming a movie scene - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream a movie scene inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly).

Captain Pollard is about to sail his new ship, the Essex, out to sea.  He gives the order to the first mate, Chase, to have the anchor lifted and Chase immediately sets to work supervising his men in carrying out the order.  The officers begin to shout out orders simultaneously to the men under their care.  Each man hurries to his own position and begins to carry out his assigned tasks.  The officers pace the deck, watching and monitoring and giving orders to make sure everything runs smoothly.  The sailors are quick to obey their officers.  Even so, a problem in the rigging causes a sail to catch and refuse to open.  When his men are unable to solve the problem, Chase quickly climbs to the mast and cuts the sail free himself.  Soon, things are running smoothly again and the ship is sailing toward the sun and the horizon.  (Caution: gd-word used, h-word used)

Chase and Joy eye a dark storm on the horizon and warn Captain Pollard to slow down the ship.  Pollard dismisses their concern, saying he'd like the crew to toughen up a bit.  Chase tries several more times to convince him to turn the ship away, but Pollard is firm in his decision.  The eyes of the sailors turn fearful as the sky quickly darkens and the waves turn white.  Soon, the ship is rocking violently up and down and every hand is kept busy trying to stay alive and stay afloat.  Again, Chase approaches Pollard, only to be rebuffed once more.  When the waves begin to flood the deck, even Pollard starts to look scared.  He orders the men to turn the ship around, but Chase tells him he is too late.  A turn at this point will cause a wave to strike them full force.  Again, Pollard ignores Chase's warning and repeats his order to turn the ship.  But Chase's prediction comes true.  A huge wave strikes the ship and every man clings on for dear life.  Pollard finds himself almost washed overboard.  The sailors, screaming, are flung against the side of the ship as it lists dangerously sideways.  Desperate to save his men and the ship, Chase moves ahead with the plan he wanted from the beginning, to lower the t'gallant sails.  Joy quickly responds to his order and cuts loose the sails.  Immediately, the ship turns upright and the water begins to recede from the deck.  The ship sails safely out of the storm.  (Caution: gd-word used)

The sailors of the Essex have spotted a pod of whales.  Several rowboats of men have been sent in pursuit of a whale.  Chase and his crew pull alongside a large bull.  With the men rowing the boat, Chase throws a spear, striking the bull.  The massive creature immediately begins to swim quickly away, dragging the boat behind it.  The men hang on tightly to the boat, cheering in excitement as they are pulled along at a great rate of speed.  Chase, to a new sailor: "You're on your first Nantucket sleigh ride, boy!"  The men continue to ride, waiting for the whale to tire.  Chase: "Look at him!  The most fearsome creature on Earth!"  Suddenly, the whale dives, heading towards the ocean's depths.  As the rope attached the spear unwinds more and more, the men begin to worry the animal will drag their boat down with it.  Chase orders the second boat to give him their rope and attaches the two together.  The whale continues to dive.  Fathom after fathom, they wait, knowing the end of the rope will likely mean their destruction.  A man waits with an axe, ready to cut the rope on Chase's order.  Finally, with less than 10 fathoms of rope left, the whale stops and the rope stills.  Exhausted, the massive whale surfaces for air, right between the two boats.  The men begin to cheer their success.  (Caution: gd-word used twice)

A massive whale has just attacked the ship.  Chase struts angrily across the deck: "Get me the biggest irons we have!  He wants a fight?  As I live and breathe, he's mine!"  Chase ties several nasty-looking spears together and orders his men to attach the ropes to the mast.  When the whale again swims toward the boat, Chase is ready.  He throws the spear, striking the whale above the eye.  The enormous beast dives quickly and the rope attached to the spear unwinds faster and faster.  Only now does Chase realize the consequences of anchoring a huge, living beast to the mast of his ship.  He orders the men to cut the line from the mast, but the order comes too late.  The whale reaches the end of the rope and continues swimming, severing the mast from the ship.  Several men are thrown overboard as the ship is torn apart.

After 34 days drifting at sea, the sailors on the three wooden lifeboats are starving and near despair.  Chase carefully splits a small hardtack biscuit in six pieces and passes it to his men.  Each of the gaunt, sun-blistered sailors chooses a piece and passes the bowl on.  When the bowl comes to William, he takes the smaller of the remaining pieces and begins to thank God for their food.  As he prays, another sailor is staring out at sea.  The man begins to scream: "Land!"  All eyes turn in the direction he is pointing.  A large island is looming out of the mist.  Chase and his men shout to the other two boats, telling them land has been spotted.  Quickly, the joyful sailors put their oars in the water and begin rowing toward the island.

After decades of keeping it a secret, Thomas has just confessed the dark sin of his past to Herman.  (Once, while stranded at sea for months, he and other starving sailors had eaten the body of a dead shipmate.)  Herman sighs heavily and Thomas stares at him miserably: "You judge me."  Herman shakes his head, refusing to condemn an act done in such desperation.  With some relief to finally release his burden to another soul, Thomas sighs: "There.  There.  It is done.  It is out."  Herman: "And you've never told anyone?"  Thomas, head hanging in shame: "No."  Herman: "Not even your wife?"  Thomas, chin quivering: "Do you think she could ever love me if she knew the abominations I had committed?"  Suddenly, Thomas's wife steps out from her hiding place: "Yes.  She would.  And if you had told me the story when we met, I would still wear your ring today."  Thomas begins to weep tears of relief.  (Caution: no mention is made in this scene of what the "sin" was, but the previous scene goes into some gruesome detail)

Chase has been summoned to the offices of his masters, the owners of the whaling ships.  Upon arriving, Captain Pollard informs him that, due to the large loss of life and goods, an inquiry will be held to investigate their last voyage.  Chase nods, expecting no less.  But, when Pollard explains that the owners wish him to lie about the cause of the wreck, Chase is disgusted.  With the three wealthy society shipmen watching and nodding, Pollard explains that the truth of the whale attack will destroy their business.  In order to keep investors and insurers happy, the owners wish Chase to testify that the ship ran aground.  Chase: "That's a lie."  Pollard, persuasively: "Think on it!  They will make you captain!"  Fuller: "You would be a wealthy man."  Chase: "You want me to whitewash what happened for profit?"  Fuller, preferring a gentler version of the truth: "We're asking you to be pragmatic."  Chase, appearing to deliberate with himself for a moment, finally speaks, choosing honesty: "The Essex was stove by a white whale.  I will not embroider the truth."
