ScreenVue is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

ScreenVue first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes playing just a few seconds of a movie all the way up to showing the full-length feature.

Each *Total Producer Church Video License* and *Standard CVLI Video License* (or any *Church Video Licence* globally) comes with free ScreenVue Vault access.

The ScreenVue Vault offers 11,000+ Scene Ideas and Downloads from a variety of movies and resources. 

ScreenVue saves you hours of time finding that perfect movie illustration for next Sunday’s sermon, child or youth service, or video announcement!

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for 300,000+ songs and 4,500+ publishers and song owners. Currently, global churches are using 600,000+ CCLI licenses.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show all, or any portion of, thousands of movie titles from a number of movie producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from almost 3,000 producers are represented by the Church Video License, including the titles that contain all the Scene Ideas and Scene Downloads that are part of the ScreenVue Vault.

- Information about the licenses and subscriptions that you purchase from us including your method of payment.

__"Where can I find my Access Key to sign-in with?"__
- Every Church Video Licence globally and every *Total Producer Church Video License* (or *Standard CVLI Video License*) in the USA comes with FREE access to the ScreenVue Vault, which is unlocked with your Access Key. Your Access Key will be included in the monthly CVL update emails you receive. __"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

__"In the USA, why don't I have access as a CVL Family Values Package member?"__
- The *CVL Family Values Package* offers only 65+ studios and producers, and does not include any major/minor Hollywood studios - and does not come with ScreenVue Vault access.

__"What are the restrictions for streaming our service and including a movie scene? "__
- For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie (the entire film or just a scene), the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming a movie scene - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream a movie scene inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly). 
- In light of COVID-19, the Church Video License has made temporary modifications to the license: For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie, they can use a platform that is gated or private (password protected entry to only members and guests and not open to the general public), such as Zoom (requiring a password to join).

__"Can content in the ScreenVue Vault be used with a Church Video Licence anywhere in the world?"__

The following famed words are dramatized in the opening scene: "In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged in secret a Master Ring to control all others. And into this Ring he poured his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life. One Ring to rule them all. One by one the free lands of Middle-earth fell to the power of the Ring. But there were some who resisted. A last alliance of Men and Elves marched against the armies of Mordor. And on the slopes of Mount Doom, they fought for the freedom of Middle-earth. Victory was near, but the power of the Ring could not be undone."  While wearing the power Ring, a giant-sized Sauron swats away the front lines of the alliance like flies...  Later, when the King is mortally wounded by the Evil Lord, his son Isildur, takes up his father's sword and cuts the Ring (and fingers) off Sauron's hand -- destroying the monster.

After defeating Sauron, the Ring of Power falls into the hands of the King's son, Isildur..."who had this one chance to destroy evil forever. But the hearts of men are easily corrupted (as Isildur keeps the Ring, instead, and wears it around his neck). And the Ring of Power has a will on its own..."  King Isildur and his men are ambushed, and while trying to use the Ring, it betrays him instead -- resulting in his death.

After glibly using the Ring to disappear from his 111th birthday party, Bilbo sneaks home to gather his things and leave the Shire forever. Gandalf is waiting for him, however, and gives him a warning not to use the mysterious Ring lightly. Bilbo discusses his fondness for Frodo and that he intends to leave the boy everything. Gandalf asks if this includes the Ring. Bilbo assures him it does -- even though it still lies snuggly in his vest pocket. Gandalf presses his friend to leave the Ring behind, but the evil continues its power over Bilbo, causing him to have second thoughts: "Why shouldn't I keep it? ...Now it comes to it, I don't feel like parting with it. It's mine. I found it! It came to me!"  Gandalf: "There's no need to get angry."  Bilbo: "Well, if I'm angry, it's your fault! It's mine. My own. My precious..."  Gandalf: "Precious? It's been called that before, but not by you (referring to the hideous creature, Gollum, poisoned by the Ring for over 500 years)."  Bilbo (snapping back): "What business is it of yours what I do with my own things?! ...You want it for yourself!"  Gandalf (as his voice deepens, the room darkens and thunder rolls): "Bilbo Baggins!! Do not take me for some conjurer of cheap tricks. I am not trying to rob you. (Softly) I'm trying to help you."  Bilbo finally snaps out of it as the two embrace.

After researching the mysterious ring in Frodo's possession, Gandalf frantically returns to see if it is, indeed, THE Ring forged by the Dark Lord Sauron. Frodo produces the ring...which is immediately snatched from his hand and thrown into the fire. Retrieving it with tongs, Gandalf places it in Frodo's hand -- and to the wizard's relief -- shows no change. But Frodo notices strange markings appearing on the Ring -- revealing it to be the one and only evil Ring of Power.  Gandalf translates the Elvish writing: "One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all, And in the darkness bind them."

Gandalf explains the Ring's history to Frodo, stressing that evil is stirring in Mordor: "The Ring has awoken. It's heard its master's call."  Frodo: "But Sauron was destroyed."  Gandalf: "No... The spirit of Sauron endured. His life force is bound to the Ring, and the Ring survived. Sauron has returned. His Orcs have multiplied. His fortress at Barad-dOr is rebuilt in the land of Mordor. Sauron needs only this Ring to cover all the lands in a second darkness. He is seeking it. All his thought is bent on it. For the Ring yearns above all else to return to the hand of its master. They are one. ...Frodo, he must never find it."  Gandalf then explains how Gollum ratted them out, giving Sauron the location of the Ring -- causing the hobbit to panic and offer the Ring to Gandalf for safe keeping.  Gandalf: "No... You cannot offer me this ring!"  Frodo: "I'm giving it to you!"  Gandalf: "Don't tempt me...! I dare not take it. Not even to keep it safe. Understand... I would use this Ring from a desire to do good. But through me, it would wield a power too great and terrible to imagine."

After refusing the temptation to take the Ring of Power himself, Gandalf commissions the young and naive hobbit with a grave mission...  Frodo: "It cannot stay in the Shire! ...What must I do?"  Gandalf (as Frodo quickly packs): "You must leave. And leave quickly (to an inn where the wizard will arrive later after seeing his own mentor). ...I don't have any answers. You'll have to leave the name of Baggins behind you. For that name is not safe outside the Shire. Travel only by day. And stay off the road."  Frodo places the Ring in his pocket, grabs his walking stick and stands purposefully, yet fearfully, in front of his respected elder. ...Gandalf (smiling warmly): "My dear, Frodo. Hobbits really are amazing creatures. You can learn all that there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you."

Late at night, after Gandalf commisions Frodo to take the Ring of Power away from the Shire on a very seceretive and dangerous mission, they hear something outside their window. Upon investigation, the wizard quickly pulls a startled hobbit through the window and onto a table...  "Confound it all, Samwise Gamgee! Have you been eavesdropping?!"  Sam: "I haven't been dropping no eaves. Honest. I was just cutting the grass under the window, there, if you follow me."  Gandalf: "A little late for trimming the verge, don't you think?"  Sam: "I heard raised voices..."  Gandalf: "What did you hear? Speak!"  Sam: "N-nothing important. That is, I heard a good deal about a ring, and a Dark Lord and something about the end of the world but...please, Mr. Gandalf, sir, don't hurt me. Don't turn me into anything unnatural."  Gandalf: "No? Perhaps not. I've thought of a better use for you..."

Unsure what to do about the evil Ring (in Frodo's possession), Gandalf the Grey seeks council from his mentor, Saruman the White. Saruman talks passionately about the Dark Lord regaining much of his former strength, his ability to see all, his gathering of evil and his summoning an army great enough to assault all Middle-earth.  Gandalf wonders how he knows all this. Saruman takes him to a large crystal ball (palantir), which Gandalf warns, "is a dangerous tool... We do not know who else may be watching (from the other end)."  As Gandalf touches it briefly, he sees the eye of Sauron looking back!  Saruman then calmly informs his apprentice that the Nine Riders will find the ring and kill the one who carries it. But when Gandalf tries to leave and warn his friends, Saruman closes and locks the surrounding doors...  Saruman: "You did not seriously think that a hobbit could contend with the will of Sauron? There are none who can. Against the power of Mordor, there can be no victory. We must join with him, Gandalf. We must join with Sauron. It would be wise, my friend."  Gandalf: "Tell me...friend...when did Saruman the Wise abandon reason for madness?"  A wizard knock-down-drag-out ensues -- leaving Gandalf bloodied and imprisoned.  Saruman: "I gave you the chance of aiding me willingly. But you have elected the way of pain!"

While the other three hobbits are distracted by hunger and scramble to pick wild mushrooms by the road, Frodo looks ahead and senses danger: "I think we should get off the road."  But his friends ignore him -- busy foraging for their next meal. But the more he focuses on the seeming quiet path that lays before them, the more he is certain evil is headed their way: "Get off the road!"  This time, all hurriedly scramble off the path and hide behind a giant tree root -- and none too soon -- as Ringwraith demons arrive on blood-oozing horses, searching for their master's ring that's hidden in Frodo's pocket.

On a dark and foggy night, demonic Ringwraiths chase the four hobbits through a dense forest -- hoping to kill them and capture the Ring of Power. After a mad scramble (following Merry who says he knows the way to freedom), the four head for, and jump onto, a simple small ferry boat (that just seems to have an open invitation for use). Everyone, that is, except Frodo who lags dangerously behind. With a devil at his heels, Frodo runs frantically towards the ferry, as his friends encourage him on -- leaping just in time -- as the Ringwraith comes to a screeching halt (literally) on the pier!

After accidentally alerting the evil Ringwraiths to their location at the Prancing Pony Inn, Frodo is dragged upstairs to a room by the mysterious stranger Strider: "Are you frightened?"  Frodo: "Yes."  Strider: "Not nearly frightened enough. I know what hunts you."  Later, after the others have joined them and all are snug and soundly sleeping, the evil Ringwraiths enter the hobbit's room -- and in unison -- ram their swords repeatedly into the lumps on each bed. However, when the demons pull back the covers, they scream in torment -- realizing they've been fooled by feathered pillows. From a far-off room, the four friends are thankful for trusting the stranger -- aware that he just saved their lives.

Continuing to "sow to the flesh" by putting their appetite first, Frodo's fellow hobbits have a mess of food sizzling over a campfire high atop the fortress they are staying during the night -- while "hiding" from the evil Ringwraiths. Waking up, Frodo frantically asks: "What are you doing?!"  Merry: "Tomatoes, sausages, nice crispy bacon..."  Frodo (while stamping out the fire): "Put it out, you fools! Put it out!"  At that moment, the awful screech of the Ringwraiths is heard below, as the demons have easily found their prey.

Stabbed by a Ringwraith sword and near death, Frodo is carried by the elvin princess Arwen on horseback -- racing to Rivendell to hopefully save the hobbit's life. Unfortunately, she is pursued by all nine Dark Riders who are bent on killing them both and securing the Ring of Power (still in Frodo's possession). Running her horse to near exhaustion, she eventually crosses a shallow river and stops on the other side. As the Riders approach, they stop on the river's edge and hiss: "Give up the Halfling, She-Elf."  With a determined look and sword drawn, Arwen fires back: "If you want him, come and claim him!"  The demons the draw their own swords and slowly start crossing the river.  Arwen then speaks to the water in an Elvish tongue, causing it to swell, as a cascading tidal-wave thunders down the river (taking the form of wild horses) -- washing the Wraiths away!

At the Council of Elrond, the Elf King explains the dire state of affairs: "You've been summoned here to answer the threat of Mordor. Middle-earth stands upon the brink of destruction. None can escape it. You will unite, or you will fall. Each race is bound to this fate, this one doom."  Frodo then produces the Ring of Power and lays it on a center stone table -- all seemingly mesmerized at seeing this infamous object in person. Boromir is especially taken by it, and as he mumbles something about a dream he's had, approaches to touch the Ring -- the evil object enticing his lust for power and weakness to evil. But before he does, Gandalf yells his name and begins speaking in the language of Mordor as the sky darkens and rumbles...  Gandalf: "The Ring is altogether evil."  Boromir (shaking head): "It is a gift. A gift to the foes of Mordor. Why not use this Ring? ...Give Gondor the weapon on the enemy. Let us use it against him."  Aragorn: "You cannot wield it. None of us can. The One Ring answers to Sauron alone. It has no other master."

At the council to discuss the fate of races in Middle-earth, Elrond explains how the evil Ring of Power must be destroyed: "The Ring was made in the fires of Mount Doom. Only there can it be unmade. It must be taken deep into Mordor and cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came. One of you...must do this."  After a moment of silence, Boromir explains how impossible it would be to try and march into Mordor, the heart of evil, to complete such a mission. But Legolas the elf immediately jumps to his feet and contradicts this, stressing that the Ring MUST be destroyed at all costs. An argument ensues between men, elves and dwarfs (with Gandalf warning "while you bicker amongst yourselves, Sauron's power grows!"), until Frodo -- the most unlikely, innocent and fragile of them all -- steps up to the plate: "I will take it! I will take the Ring to Mordor. Though...I do not know the way."  This act of selflessness causes others to volunteer...  Gandalf: "I will help you bear this burden, Frodo Baggins, as long as it is yours to bear."  Aragorn: "If by my life or death I can protect you, I will. (Kneeling in front of the Hobbit) You have my sword."  Legolas: "And you have my bow."  Gimli (the Dwarf): "And my axe!"  Boromir: "You carry the fates of us all, little one. If this is indeed the will of the Council, then Gondor will see it done."  After Sam, Merry and Pippin come out of hiding and join, Elrond proclaims: "Nine companions. So be it. You shall be the Fellowship of the Ring."  Pippin: "Great! Where are we going?"

(Disc 2)  On their way to Mordor, the Fellowship comes to a dead end at the entrance to the mines of Moria (a short-cut under the Misty Mountains). Lit by the moonlight, the door's inscription reads: "The Doors of Durin, Lord of Moria. Speak, friend, and enter."  Merry: "What do you suppose that means?"  Gandalf: "Oh, it's quite simple. If you are a friend, you speak the password and the doors will open."  Gandalf then repeatedly tries in vain (over a long period of time), uttering every password in every language he can think of -- finally giving up, "Oh, it's useless."  Frodo (staring again at the door): "It's a riddle. 'Speak 'friend' and enter.' What's the Elvish word for 'friend?' "   Gandalf: "Mellon..." causing the door to open.

(Disc 2) Having just entered the stone entrance to the mines of Moria, Frodo is suddenly attacked by a sea monster from the Lake outside and drug into the air. The others scream for help as everyone rallies together to fight the beast (slashing at it with swords and cutting off its tentacles) -- until Aragorn safely catches the hobbit in his arms.

(Disc 2) While the Fellowship is wating in the mines of Moria for Gandalf to decide which way to go, Frodo sees a creature below in the distance. Gandalf privately tells Frodo that it is the corrupt creature Gollum, who has been following them for three days: "Now the Ring has brought him here. He will never be rid of his need for it. He hates and loves the Ring, as he hates and loves himself. Smeagol's life is a sad story. Yes, Smeagol, he was once called. Before the Ring found him. Before it drove him mad."  Frodo: "It's a pity Bilbo didn't kill him when he had the chance."  Gandalf: "Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death and judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill, before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many."  Frodo: "I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."  Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought."

(Disc 2) Trying to stealth their way through the mines of Moria unnoticed, the Fellowship makes a quick stop in a room where Gandalf reads from an old book that recalls the last words of the massacred Dwarfs: "...We have barred the gates, but cannot hold them for long. Drums...drums in the deep. ...A shadow moves in the dark. We cannot get out. They are coming."  Unfortunately, Pippin is as curious as ever and touches an armored skeleton with a chain and bucket slumped at a well -- causing the entire fixture to very loudly clang all the way down the chasm below. As the entire group glares and Pippin winces, Gandalf scolds: "Fool of a Took! Throw yourself in next time, and rid us of your stupidity."  From below, drums begin to beat and grow louder...as an evil rumble begins to approach their door...

(Disc 2) Deep in the mines of Moria, the Fellowship run for their lives toward a bridge as a Balrog (an ancient demon of fire) gives chase. All cross safely except Gandalf, who turns to face the monster: "You cannot pass! I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the flame of Anor. The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udun!"  At this, the Balrog strikes down with his sword as Gandalf blocks it with a brilliant force field. "Go back to the shadow."  And as the Balrog starts to cross the bridge, Gandalf decrees once more, "You shall not pass!" and strikes the bridge with his staff, causing it to crumble under the beast and fall to the depths below -- but not before wrapping his whip around Gandalf's leg and pulling him as well. the wizard's last words to his friends: "Fly, you fools!"  (Caution: intense scene)

(Disc 2) Galadriel talks to Frodo about the Ring of Power and the Fellowship's quest: "(The destruction of the Shire) will come to pass if you should fail. The Fellowship is breaking. It is already begun. He will try and take the Ring. You know of whom I speak. One by one, it will destroy them all."  Frodo: "If you ask of me, I will give you the One Ring (offering it to her)."  Galadriel (staring and walking towards it): " "You offer it to me freely. I do not deny that my heart has greatly desired this. (As her image and voice change to almost demonic in nature) In the place of a Dark Lord, you would have a queen, not dark but beautiful, and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the sea! Stronger than the foundations of the earth! All shall love me and despair!"  Galadriel returns to normal in a breathless and relieved state: "I pass the test. I will diminish and go into the West and remain Galadriel."  She encourages Frodo on his lonely quest: "If you do not find a way, no one will. ...Even the smallest person can change the course of the future."

(Disc 2) As the Fellowship leaves the Elvin city, Lothlorien, each remembers the gift given to them by the powerful yet elegant Lady of Light...  To Legolas she gives a bow of the Galadhrim ("worthy of the skill of our woodland kin"); Merry and Pippin are given daggers of the Noldorin ("do not fear, you will find your courage"); Sam is given Elvin rope made of hithlain (even though he asks if she's "run out of those nice, shiny daggers?"); Gimli is given three of her golden hairs (which he asks for by muttering, "no, no I couldn't...it's quite impossible...stupid to ask"); Aragorn is given nothing -- since she can give him nothing greater than his gift from Arwen; and lastly, Frodo is given the light of Earendil: "Our most beloved star. May it be a light for you in dark places, when all other lights go out."

(Disc 2)  Frodo isolates himself from the Fellowship, aware of the Ring's power to corrupt even his friends. Boromir -- increasingly influenced by an evil lust to have the Ring himself -- has followed Frodo...  After a few pleasantries, Boromir says he knows the needless burden the young hobbit bears alone...inferring that he would be more than happy to take the Ring off his hands for awhile. Frodo is not stupid and knows the Ring's wickedness is influencing the warrior: "It would seem like wisdom but for the warning in my heart."  Boromir angrily declares he would just use the Ring to defend his people -- drawing ever closer to the hobbit: "If you would just lend me the Ring."  Frodo: "No."  Boromir: "Why do you recoil? I am no thief."  Frodo: "You are not yourself."  ...Boromir: "Fool! It could have been mine!"  The warrior chases Frodo, as they both tumble along the ground, the larger man grasping for the Ring around the hobbit's neck. As a last resort, Frodo is forced to use the Ring's power of invisibility to escape his maddened friend.  Boromir: "Curse you!"  Then, finally coming to himself: "Frodo. What have I done?"

(Disc 2) Boromir lies dying (after coming to himself since trying to steal the Ring of Power and slaughtering many Orcs to protect the hobbits) and is joined by Aragorn -- whom he has never accepted as leader of the Fellowship and king in waiting of the race of men...  Boromir: "Where is Frodo?"  Aragorn: "I let Frodo go."  Boromir: "Then you did what I could not. I tried to take the Ring from him. ...Forgive me. I did not see it. I have failed you all."  Aragorn: "No. You fought bravely. You have kept your honor."  ...Boromir: "The world of men will fall. And all will come to darkness and my city to ruin."  Aragorn: "I do not know what strength is in my blood, but I swear to you, I will not let the White City fall nor our people fail."  Boromir: "Our people. I would have followed you, my brother. My captain. My king."  Boromir dies, as the others arrive and look on...  Aragorn (before tenderly kissing his friend's forehead): "Be at peace, son of Gondor...They will look for his coming from the White Tower. But he will not return."

(Disc 2) Frodo seperates himself from the others by boat, sadly choosing to face destroying the Ring in Mordor alone. Sam, however, will not have it -- as he enters the water from the shoreline and stubbornly walks toward his friend...  Frodo: "Go back, Sam! I'm going to Mordor alone."  Sam: "Of course you are. And I'm coming with you!"  Frodo: "You can't swim!"  But Sam continues to flounder his way, eventually succoming to the deep as he sinks.  Frodo fishes his friend from the brink, pulling him into the boat...  Sam (coughing and sputtering): "I made a promise, Mr. Frodo. A promise: 'Don't you leave him, Samwise Gamgee.' And I don't mean to."  They embrace and eventually row away to continue their dark quest.
