ScreenVue is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

ScreenVue first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, digital, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes playing just a few seconds of a movie all the way up to showing the full-length feature.

Each *Total Producer Church Video License* (or any *Church Video Licence* globally) comes with free ScreenVue Vault access.

The ScreenVue Vault offers 14,000+ Scene Ideas, Views and Downloads from a variety of movies and resources.

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for 600,000+ songs and 7,000+ publishers and song owners. Currently, global churches are using 600,000+ CCLI licenses.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show all, or any portion of, thousands of movie titles from a number of movie producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from 3,000+ producers are represented by the Church Video License, including the titles that contain all the scenes that are part of the ScreenVue Vault.

- Every Church Video Licence globally and every *Total Producer Church Video License* (or *Standard CVLI Video License*) in the USA comes with FREE access to the ScreenVue Vault, which is unlocked with your Access Key. Your Access Key will be included in the monthly CVL update emails you receive. __"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

__"In the USA, why don't I have access as a CVL Family Values Package member?"__
- The *CVL Family Values Package* offers only 65+ studios and producers, and does not include any major/minor Hollywood studios - and does not come with ScreenVue Vault access.

__"What are the restrictions for streaming our service and including a movie scene? "__
- For churches that stream their services and want to include any part of a movie (the entire film or just a scene), the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming a movie scene - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream a movie scene inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly).

It is Christmas Eve, 1944, and a division of American soldiers are celebrating in the middle of a battlefield.  General Waverly approaches the gathered men from behind and sits quietly to watch the festivities.  The mood turns pensive as Captain Wallace begins to sing the song "White Christmas."  Wallace, solemnly:  ♪ "I'm dreaming of a White Christmas, just like the ones I used to know.  Where the treetops glisten, and children listen to hear sleigh bells in the snow..."  ♪  The sound of bombing in the distance punctuates the soft music.  General Waverly looks around at the faces of his men.  They sit, in full battle gear, some staring down at their rifles, others with their eyes closed.  They each are remembering Christmases with their families back home, perhaps wondering if they will ever see their loved ones again.  Wallace ends his song, and the men silently reflect on the life they left behind.

A division of American soldiers has just finished its Christmas Eve celebration when bombs begin exploding all around.  The surprised men begin to run for cover, but the bombs appear everywhere and the men are in a state of confusion.  Captain Wallace is too busy helping his men to safety to be aware that his own life is in danger.  A tall brick wall is on the verge of toppling over him.  Private Davis sees the danger and warns the captain to look out, but Wallace doesn't hear him.  Davis runs over to the captain and picks him up, throwing him under a Jeep to safety.  Davis doesn't have time to crawl under the Jeep himself and is struck in the arm by falling debris.  Captain Wallace sits up, concerned for his savior.  Wallace, examining Davis's arm: "Looks pretty bad."  Davis, casually: "Nah, it's nothing but a scratch."

After yet another failed attempt to set his friend and business partner up on a date, Phil Davis decides to confront Bob Wallace with his skewed priorities.  Phil: "Wallace, I think it's time you and I had a little talk."  Bob, indignantly: "Yeah, it's a good idea, buster.  And, if you don't mind, I'll lead off.  You know something, for about three months now, you've been clumsily trying to entangle me with some female."  Phil tries to interrupt to explain his good intentions, but Bob continues: "Fat ones, tall ones, thin ones...doesn't make any difference as long as they're wearing skirts, a little mascara, and still breathing, you ran 'em at me."  Phil: "Believe me, it's for your own good.  Let's face it, Bob, you're a lonely, miserable man."  Phil, once again playing his most powerful card, rubs his old war injury and tells Bob that, in saving his life years before, he took the responsibility for Bob's welfare on himself.  Bob, wryly: "Since you saved my life, you decided you had the right to run it.  You'd look at me with those great, big cow eyes of yours, point at that phony arm, and I'd melt and go along."  Phil, insincerely: "Well, I don't expect any gratitude."  Bob is grateful, but he wants Phil to leave the rest of his life alone.  Phil refuses: "You're a miserable, lonely, unhappy man."  Bob: "You're wacky.  I'm a very happy man."  Phil: "Well, then, you're happy for the wrong reasons, and that's the same as being lonely and miserable except it's worse."  Bob: "I got everything in life I want."  Phil: "Except the most important thing...a girl."  Bob: "I'll get around to that one of these days."  Phil: "When what's left of you gets around to what's left to be gotten, what's left to be gotten won't be worth getting, whatever it is you've got left."  Bob doesn't trust that Phil's motives are entirely altruistic and questions what benefit he would receive from Bob's marriage.  Phil: "You've gone absolutely berserk with work...I haven't had one minute I could call my own.  I want you to get married.  I want you to have nine children.  And if you only spend five minutes a day with each kid, that's 45 minutes, and I'd at least have time to go out and get a massage or something!"  Bob sighs: "Phil, let me tell you something.  There's a lot of sense in what you say, I have to admit it.  But the kind of girls you and I meet in this business are young, they're ambitious, full of their own careers.  They're not interested in getting married, settling down, raising a family.  Some day the right girl's gonna come along, and, if she'll have me, we'll settle down and we'll start having those nine kids for you."

Betty and Judy are in their dressing room when the manager of the club excitedly knocks on the door.  He tells them that the famous Wallace and Davis are here to see their act.  Betty is astonished...how could such a famous pair have heard of their tiny act?  The manager tells her that their brother, Benny, wrote to his old army buddies and asked them to give the girls some advice.  After the manager leaves, Judy excitedly prepares for the show, but her sister eyes her skeptically.  Judy, gushing her gratitude for Benny: "What a brother.  What a sweet, wonderful guy."  Betty, dryly: "Amazing.  I wonder what gave him the idea?"  Judy: "Oh, he probably heard we were here and that they were in town with a big show.  He probably figured we were too shy to take advantage of an old army friendship..."  Betty interrupts her sister: "Judy, did you read Mother's letter this morning?"  Judy hadn't.  Betty informs her that Benny has been out of the country for three months.  Judy's eyes widen and she looks around, searching for an excuse.  Betty doesn't fall for it, and accuses her sister of faking the letter.  Judy believes her reason excuses her behavior: "It's good business.  You can't leave everything up to fate.  Just like honesty needs a little plus, fate needs a little push."

Bob and Betty sit at a table, watching Judy and Phil dance.  Phil mentions his surprise on receiving the letter from Betty's brother, Benny (see Scene # CV03305 for reference to letter).  Betty wants Bob to know the truth: "I must tell you...you were brought here tonight under false pretences.  Benny didn't write the letter.  My sister did."  She explains that Judy thought a letter from an old friend would be a stronger appeal than a letter from a stranger.  Bob, laughing: "How do you like that?  Even little Judy there's got an angle going."  Betty is offended and rushes to her sister's defense.  Bob: "You don't have to apologize.  Everybody's got an angle."  Betty, scandalized: "That's a pretty cynical point of view."  Bob: "Oh, come...come now, Miss Haynes.  Surely you knew that everybody's got a little larceny operating in them?"  Betty defensively tries to excuse Betty's lie, saying that she and her sister don't play angles.  Bob knows better, and isn't upset.  Bob: "The kid played a percentage, it worked, and we're here.  All I'm saying is, when you've been around show business as long as I have, you just get used to people working angles."  Betty disagrees with Bob's opinion of human character, but can see no purpose in continuing their argument.  Bob agrees.

Betty, unable to sleep, goes to the kitchen to get a sandwich.  There she encounters Bob, who tells her his method of banishing anxiety.  Bob: ♪ "When I'm worried and I can't sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep.  And I fall asleep, counting my blessings.  When my bankroll is getting small, I think of when I had none at all.  And I fall asleep, counting my blessings." ♪

Retired general Thomas Waverly is the owner of a struggling inn.  He wants to reassure Bob, an old army friend, that he doesn't need his help or his pity...he intends on rejoining the army.  The general, folding his arms determinedly: "I got an idea they may try to palm off one of those desk jobs on me, but they'd better not.  I'm holding out for a training command or something overseas.  I expect a letter from Washington any day now."  Bob suddenly remembers that he picked up a letter from Washington when he got the mail.  Taking the letter from Bob, the general holds it at a distance, struggling to see the words.  He pats his pockets for his glasses, but finds he has left them in the inn.  Too excited to wait, he asks Bob to read the letter to him.  The general smiles proudly, his chest puffed out, certain the army will be anxious to have him return.  Bob, reading: "Your amusing letter was appreciated more than you imagine.  Of course, you've got time to be amusing...sitting on that porch, rocking away, while we put in a full day's work."  The general's face begins to fall as Bob continues: "You always were a lucky stiff, and I envy you.  A few years more, I was saying to Edie the other evening, and I'll be able to take it easy like old Tom."  The general, his pride crushed, repeats: "Old Tom."  Bob looks at him sympathetically and continues to read the letter.  The general cuts him off, knowing the rest will only be personal news.  General: "He's telling me that...well, they can't use me - - no place for me."  The general laughs, attempting to hide his hurt.  He looks over at a couple of men playing horseshoes: "Bob, it wouldn't be too hard to learn this game of horseshoes, now, would it?"  Bob, walking with the general toward the men: "Begging your pardon, sir, but there's really a lot to be said for leisure."  The general stops, interrupting Bob's attempt at lifting his spirits: "Never kid a kidder, son."  He laughs weakly and walks away.

Bob Wallace has an idea he thinks will help encourage his old friend, General Waverly.  The general had hoped to re-enlist in the army, but was rejected on account of his age.  Bob hopes to honor the general's service by holding a celebration with his former division.  Bob calls Ed Harrison, a New York television host, to see if Ed can make a nationally televised invitation to the men of his division.  Ed thinks it's a great idea, and throws in a thought of his own: "Look, why don't you go all out...put the whole show on TV?"  The general's housekeeper, Emma, an incorrigible busybody, rushes to the switchboard to listen in on the conversation.  She gets on the line as Ed continues: "Put the show on the whole network, right from Pine Tree.  Play it up big, a real Christmas Eve show.  All about how you're playing Santa Claus to the old man.  Plenty of schmaltz, lots of heart.  It would be worth over a hundred-thousand dollars in free advertising for you and Phil.  Yeah, and we'll put the old boy on, himself.  The forgotten man angle...tear their hearts out."  Emma quickly puts down the phone as she hears someone coming into the room.  She isn't on the line to hear Bob's reply: "I'm sorry, Ed, but that's out.  We're not commercializing on the old man's hard luck."  Emma, distracted, runs into Betty on her way back to the front desk.  She gives Betty an unopened telegram, telling her what's inside.  Betty laughs and asks if her technique is to hold it up to the light.  Emma: "That's for amateurs...I use steam."  Betty: "You're quite a pro."  Emma, an angry hand on her hip: "You know, I'm thinking of turning in my uniform?  Stick your nose into people's business and eventually you find out things you wish you hadn't."  Emma tells a disbelieving Betty that Bob and Phil are planning on exhibiting the general's pathetic situation for their own publicity.  Emma sniffs, fearing for the general's pride.  She continues her inaccurate saga: "Of course, you know, it means over two-hundred-thousand dollars worth of free publicity for Wallace and Davis."  Betty: "That's a terrible thing to say!"  Emma, defensively: "I didn't say it!  Bob Wallace said it.  I just heard him."  Betty still believes Emma must be wrong.  Emma: "Well, if I am, I'll resign as president of the New England chapter of Busybodies Anonymous."

Phil and Judy watch as Bob and Betty storm separately out of the room, after an obvious quarrel.  Judy thinks their strange behavior indicates romance: "Last night she couldn't sleep.  Today she won't eat.  She's in love."  Phil: "If that's love, somebody goofed."  Judy believes that Betty is deliberately putting up barriers to a deeper relationship with Bob.  In Judy's mind, Betty sees herself as the mother hen, who will never marry until she sees Judy comfortably settled.  Phil begins to write off their plan to unite the two as impossible.  Judy has an idea to salvage it:  if she gets engaged then Betty will feel free to pursue her own interests.  Phil: "Even if it made any sense at all, you're up here in the wilderness.  There's nobody around here."  Judy, looking coyly at him: "Mmm...I don't know."  Phil: "Oh, be realistic.  Who could you find up here to get yourself engaged to?"  Judy, pretending to think: "Well, I suppose it ought to be someone that I know."  Phil: "That always helps."  Judy: "Of course, it's got to be a man."  Phil: "That's an absolute must."  Judy: "I mean a mature man - - one with talent and experience.  One that's witty, gay, charming, attractive."  Phil, cluelessly: "Oh, sure.  Where are you gonna find such a superman?"  Judy, laying her hand on his arm and smiling at him seductively: "Don't be so modest."  Phil: "Honey, fellas like that don't..."  He stops as her meaning sinks in.  He begins to scoot away from her.  "Me?"  Judy, moving toward him and laying a hand on his leg: "Well, you're not exactly superman, but you're awfully available."  Phil continues to shimmy backward on the bench.  Judy follows after, her red-lacquered nails gripping his leg possessively.  Phil: "Don't get any ideas, Judy.  I'm not the marrying kind."  Judy protests that it's just an engagement.  Phil: "Yeah, well, I'm not the engaging kind either."  Judy, leaning in closely: "What kind are you?"  Phil: "I'm, uh, more the 'I don't mind pushing my best friend into it, but I'm scared stiff when I get anywhere close to it myself' kind."  He laughs nervously.  He swallows hard as he runs out of room to back away from Judy's advance.  "You do like me, don't you?"  Phil, hesitantly: "Sure I do."  Judy: "I mean, I'm not exactly repulsive?"  Phil, stammering: "Of course...of course not."  Judy, leaning in so close she's almost lying on top of him: "And you do find me gay, amusing, good company, fun to be with?"  Phil, his voice cracking nervously and his back against the wall: "I do, but I feel the same way about my cocker spaniel."  Judy sits up, pretending her idea was all for Betty and Bob's sake.  Phil falls for her new tactic: "It would only be temporary, huh?"  Judy, pretending offense: "Well, of course.  Well, you don't think I'm the kind of girl who goes around throwing myself at a man, do you?"  She lifts her chin, feigning haughtiness.  Phil quickly reassures her and irons out the details of their scheme.  However, when Judy leans in to seal their deal with a kiss, Phil slides down the wall to avoid her embrace.

Former General Thomas F. Waverly's granddaughter is escorting him to dinner at his own Vermont resort.  He has no clue that a big surprise has been arranged to honor him at this event.  He enters the dining room and is stunned to be greeted with applause from the gathered crowd.  A spotlight falls on him and all of the guests stand in welcome.  The majority are the men from the general's former army division, and their families.  They've all come in secret, on Christmas Eve, with the sole purpose of surprising the "old man."  Coming down the stairs, still accompanied by resounding applause, he sees the many familiar faces and is moved by the honor given to him.  He stops at a table in the center of the room, where a large cake awaits him.  His eyes are brimming with unshed tears as the men begin to sing: ♪ "We'll follow the old man wherever he wants to go...because we love him, we love him, especially when he keeps us on the ball...the grandest son-of-a-soldier of them all."  ♪ General Waverly performs a mock inspection of his troops, pretending to be dissatisfied with their conduct, their lack of neckties, and their pot-bellies.  General: "You're soft, you're sloppy, you're unruly, you're undisciplined..."  He turns around and smiles proudly at the assembled men: "And I never saw anything look so wonderful in my whole life.  Thank you all."
