The ScreenVue Vault is the result of a joint venture and partnership between Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC).

The Vault first launched in 2003 as a service of CVLI. The CVLI Church Video License provides legal coverage for churches and for other ministry organizations to show DVDs, Blu-rays, digital, movie downloads and streams of motion pictures. Each organization needs to be specifically covered. Coverage includes showing the full-length feature.

Each *Total Producer Church Video License* (or any *Church Video Licence* globally) comes with free Vault access.

The Vault offers 16,000+ Movie Ideas and Movie Views from a variety of movies and resources. 

The Vault saves you hours of time finding that perfect movie illustration for next Sunday’s sermon, child or youth service, or video announcement!  

(*The Vault does not sell or rent entire digital copies of movies to download. To purchase or rent entire movies, please access services like Amazon, Apple or Fandango).

### CCLI

Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) was established in 1988 to provide churches with simple, affordable solutions to complex copyright issues. CCLI helps churches maintain their integrity while giving them the freedom to worship expressively and spontaneously.

Churches often face copyright infringement issues in two areas: 1) copying music without permission, and 2) showing movies without authorization.

For copying music to assist with congregational singing, the Church Copyright License provides blanket coverage for 600,000+ songs and 7,000+ publishers and song owners. Currently, global churches are using 600,000+ CCLI licenses.

### CVLI

From a unique partnership between Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) and Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC), Christian Video Licensing International (CVLI) and the Church Video License was formed in 2001.

The Church Video License provides churches with legal coverage to show thousands of movie titles and TV shows from a number of producers, including all the major studios. Currently, the titles from 5,000+ producers are represented by the Church Video License, including all the titles that  are part of the Vault.

Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC) was founded in 1986 by former MGM executives and an MPAA attorney. Their goal was to develop a process to help the public leverage the work of the creative community without infringing on copyright.

ScreenVue is an international organization headquartered in the United States, with offices around the world. As such, many of our systems and online services are employed globally.

When you purchase licenses or services from ScreenVue, we will require only the personal information that is necessary for the administration of your account with us.

When you sign up for CVLI/ScreenVue’s licenses or services, you may provide some or all of the following:

- Information about the licenses and subscriptions that you purchase from us including your method of payment.

Our websites contain links to other websites. When you leave a ScreenVue website by linking to any of these sites, you are subject to the privacy policy of those sites.

- Personal data that you freely provide about yourself that is relevant to the nature of the interaction, such as your name, username and email address. 
- Details of the emails you open, and links clicked.
- Your comments in forums and feedback from surveys.

- We encrypt all data that is transferred electronically using the industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)

We cannot guarantee the security of any email provider or online service which is not managed by us, and which you use to transfer data to us.

ScreenVue works with reputable service providers who may process your data to perform business functions on our behalf. These include Google Analytics, MailChimp/Mandrill, SurveyGizmo and others.

All such service providers are contractually required to keep your data safe, use it only for the purposes agreed, and delete it when it is no longer required. They have agreed not share it, nor use it for their marketing purposes.

ScreenVue would like to share potentially valuable or interesting information with you and, from time to time, ask for your feedback via online surveys.

## How We Use Cookies

__"Where can I find my Access Key to sign-in with?"__
- Every Church Video Licence globally and every *Total Producer Church Video License* (or *Standard CVLI Video License*) in the USA comes with FREE access to the Vault, which is unlocked with your Access Key. Your Access Key will be included in the monthly CVL update emails you receive. __"Why won't my Access Key work?"__
- The usual reason for the Access Key not to work (and a footer error message to appear) is that something is missing from the sign-in protocol.
- Enter the *Email address* associated with your Church Video License (or CCLI account).
- Enter the *Access Key* found in your last CVL update email (exactly, with no spaces).
- Select the *Terms of Use* and a *Keeping in Touch* option.
- You should be in! If you have done all this and still have a problem, please let us know and we'll dig further.

__"In the USA, why don't I have access as a CVL Family Values Package member?"__
- The *CVL Family Values Package* offers only 65+ studios and producers, and does not include any major/minor Hollywood studios - and does not come with ScreenVue Vault access. 
- The *CVL Total Producer Package* offers 5,000+ studios and producers, including every major Hollywood studio and most of the major/minors, and comes with complimentary access to the Vault: unlocked with a provided Access Key. 
- In the USA, to gain access to the Vault, please upgrade to a *Total Producer package* by calling: __1-888-771-2854__.

__"What is the difference between Movie Ideas and Movie Views?"__
- The Vault offers TWO different types of content: 
- *Movie Ideas*: Has the "light-bulb icon," where you would use your own movie (Digital, Stream, Blu-ray, or DVD you already have access to) with our cues and details; as this idea is not available as a View. 
- *Movie Views*: Has the "TV icon," where you can instantly preview content you’re considering from embedded links streamed directly on the Vault site from a studio’s official YouTube channel.

__"Why can't I download a Movie Idea or Movie View?"__
- We do not have permission from the studio owners to offer downloads for Ideas and Views. Instead, use the cues listed in the upper, right hand corner of a Movie Idea in tandem with your own copy or rental, or preview a Movie View. 

- The Vault offers two different types of content: 
- *Movie Ideas*: Has the "light-bulb icon," where you would use your own movie (Digital, Stream, Blu-ray, or DVD you already have access to) with our cues and details. 
- *Movie Views*: Has the "TV icon," where you can instantly preview content you’re considering from embedded links streamed directly on the Vault site from a studio’s official YouTube channel.

__"What are the restrictions for streaming our service and including movie content? "__
- For churches that stream their services and want to include movie content, the Church Video License terms do not cover streaming movie content - even if used in a sermon - over the internet to the general public.
- However, it is permissible to live stream movie content inside the facility as long as it is a closed-stream (not accessed publicly). 
- The Church Video License has made recent modifications to the license: For churches that stream their services and want to include movie content, they can use a platform that is gated or private (password protected entry to only members and guests and not open to the general public), such as Zoom (requiring a password to join).

__"Can content in the Vault be used with a Church Video Licence anywhere in the world?"__
- Before using Vault content, please check your country’s Authorised Producers List to confirm the content is covered (all Vault content is covered in the USA).

After Dorothy’s dog Toto is seized by her neighbor, Almira Gulch—who has secured a sheriff’s order after Toto bites her—he manages to escape and they return home. She tries to seek advice from her aunt, uncle, and neighbors about what to do regarding Miss Gulch, but they are distracted and largely dismiss her concerns.

When the group reaches the Emerald City and knocks on the Wizard’s giant door, they are met by a guard from inside who tells them, “The Wizard says go away!” Dorothy is crushed by the news and bursts into tears, while the Scarecrow and the Lion try to comfort her.

The house crashes down in a strange land that Dorothy soon learns is Munchkinland in the Land of Oz. She is welcomed by Glinda, the Good Witch, who explains that the falling house has killed the Wicked Witch of the East.

Unable to reach the locked storm cellar as a tornado bears down, Dorothy takes shelter inside the farmhouse, where she is struck on the head and knocked unconscious. She later seems to awaken to find the house lifted into the air, with Toto still by her side. As it hurtles through the sky, strange figures drift past the windows—including Miss Gulch, who transforms into a witch. With a jolt, the house finally crashes down, landing in an unfamiliar land.

Dorothy awakens in her own bed back in Kansas and excitedly recounts her adventures. Aunt Em gently assures her that it was all just a bad dream. Dorothy tells Professor Marvel and the farmhands that they were in Oz too, and they smile, humoring her. As she hugs Toto tightly, Dorothy joyfully declares, “Oh, Auntie Em—there’s no place like home!”

After Glinda advises Dorothy to follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City—home of the Wizard of Oz, who may be able to help her return home—Dorothy begins her journey. Along the way, she meets the Scarecrow, who longs for a brain, and helps free him from his post.

After singing “If I Only Had a Brain,” the Scarecrow asks to join Dorothy on her journey to the Emerald City, hoping the Wizard can grant him a brain.

It's been a busy day on the farm for Dorothy's Auntie Em, Uncle Henry and their farm hands.  Dorothy has had some troubles of her own and wants Auntie Em's advice, but Em is too busy to give much attention to what she considers to be minor problems...Auntie Em:  "You always get yourself into a fret over nothing," telling the girl to find herself a place where she won't get into any trouble.Dorothy wonders aloud to her dog Toto: "Someplace where there isn't any trouble.  Do you suppose there is such a place, Toto?  There must be.  It's not a place you can get to by a boat or a train.  It's far, far away -- behind the moon, beyond the rain."Dorothy looks hopefully up at the sky and begins to sing about this heavenly place: ♪ "Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high, there's a land that I heard of, once in a lullaby.  Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue.  And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.  Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me.  Where troubles melt like lemon drops away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me.  Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly.  Birds fly over the rainbow.  Why then, oh why can't I?" ♪

The neighborhood busybody, Miss Almira Gulch, is riding her bicycle purposefully toward Dorothy's house.She encounters Uncle Henry at the gate:  "I want to see you and your wife right away about Dorothy."Henry:  "Dorothy?  What has Dorothy done?"Miss Gulch:  "What's she done?  I'm all but lame for the bite on my leg."Henry (looking almost hopeful):  "You mean she bit yeh?"Miss Gulch:  "No, her dog."Henry:  "Oh, she bit her dog, eh?"Henry "accidentally" lets go of the gate behind Miss Gulch and it hits her forcefully in the rear.  She answers bitingly, "No," and walks toward the house.  Inside, Miss Gulch tells Auntie Em that she plans on taking Toto to the sheriff to be destroyed.  Dorothy, holding the would-be condemned dog, pleads with her aunt and uncle to stop Miss Gulch from following through with her vengeance.Dorothy:  "I'm the one that ought to be punished...I let him go in her garden.  You can send me to bed without supper!"Miss Gulch:  "If you don't hand over that dog, I'll bring a damage suit that'll take your whole farm!"Auntie Em:  "How would it be if she keeps him tied up?  He's really gentle.  With gentle people, that is."Miss Gulch isn't moved from her position and hands Em an order from the sheriff that allows her to confiscate the dog.  Em and Henry can do nothing but acquiesce to her demands.  Miss Gulch pulls out a basket she brought along for Toto's imprisonment and moves toward Dorothy and the dog.Dorothy desperately hits at the basket, shouting:  "No, no!  I won't let you take him!  You go away, or I'll bite you myself!  You wicked old witch!"  Dorothy attempts to shield Toto from Miss Gulch, but Uncle Henry puts him in her basket.  Dorothy, sobbing, runs out of the room.  Auntie Em, previously polite, turns to Miss Gulch:  "Almira Gulch!  Just because you own half the county doesn't mean you have the power to run the rest of us!  For 23 years, I've been dying to tell you what I thought of you.  And now, well, being a Christian woman, I can't say it!"

After running away from home, Dorothy encounters a travelling fortune-teller camping beside the road.  Professor Marvel exits his wagon to find Dorothy examining it...  Professor:  "And who might you be?  No, no, no...don't tell me.  Let's see (stroking his chin)...you're, uh, you're travelling in disguise."  Dorothy unconsciously, almost imperceptibly, shakes her head.  He quickly backpedals:  "No, uh, that's not right.  You're, uh, you're going on a visit."  Dorothy's head again shakes slightly.  Professor Marvel (quick to pick up on body language):  "No, I'm wrong.  You're, uh," he looks down at her basket, "you're running away!"  Dorothy smiles:  "How did you guess?"  Professor:  "Professor Marvel never guesses...he knows."  The Professor, swelling with his initial psychic victory, moves on to guess Dorothy's reason for running away.  With several broad, fortune-cookie-like guesses, he succeeds in cementing Dorothy's faith in his powers of clairvoyance.  Dorothy:  "Why, it's just like you could read what was inside of me."  Dorothy begs the Professor to take her and Toto with him on his travels.  The Professor (searching for an escape):  "I never do anything without consulting my crystal first."  He takes her inside his wagon and seats her at a small table on which rests a crystal ball.Professor:  "This is the same, genuine, magic, authentic crystal used by the priests of Isis and Osiris in the days of the pharaohs of Egypt -- in which Cleopatra first saw the approach of Julius Caesar and Marc Antony and, uh, and so on, and so on..."He now tells Dorothy she must close her eyes to be more "in tune with the infinite."  While her eyes are trustingly closed, the Professor looks through Dorothy's basket and finds a picture of her and Auntie Em standing in front of their farmhouse.  He replaces the photograph and tells Dorothy to open her eyes and gaze into the crystal.  Using details he got from the photograph to substantiate his vision, the Professor pretends to see Aunt Em crying.Professor:  "Someone has just about broken her heart."Dorothy (chagrined):  "Me?"Professor (hesitating a bit so as not to be too obvious):  "Well, it's, uh, it's someone she loves very much."He continues to describe Dorothy in a roundabout way.  He then pretends to see Aunt Em have a heart attack, after which the crystal goes dark.  Dorothy (extremely agitated) jumps up and prepares to leave.Professor:  "But what's this?  I thought you were going along with me?"Dorothy:  "No, I have to get to her right away!"

Residents of Munchkin City have all turned out to celebrate the death of the Wicked Witch of the East -- finally released from the terror of her tyranny.  They profusely thank Dorothy for her part (although unintended) in the witch's demise.Glinda the Good Witch: "Let the joyous news be spread!  The wicked old witch at last is dead!"The citizens erupt into celebration as they parade their accidental heroine, Dorothy, around the town.Crowd, singing: ♪ "Ding dong, the witch is dead!" ♪ The Munchkins wake up anyone who is still asleep so they can join in the celebration.Munchkins: ♪ "She's gone where the goblins go...below, below, below." ♪ The carriage carrying Dorothy stops in front of a building.  The Mayor of Munchkin City comes out to thank Dorothy personally for her service.Mayor announces:  "Then this is a Day of Independence for all the Munchkins and their descendants!"The celebration continues as the Munchkins parade through the city, making sure everyone has heard the joyous news!

The Munchkins are celebrating the death of the Wicked Witch of the East when a huge plume of red, ominous smoke erupts in their midst.  Munchkins everywhere run into hiding as the witch moves, horrified, toward the body of her dead sister. Dorothy turns fearfully to Glinda:  "I thought you said she was dead?"  Glinda (peacefully):  "That was her sister, the Wicked Witch of the East.  This is the Wicked Witch of the West.  She's worse than the other one."Glinda puts one hand on Dorothy's shoulder to comfort her.The Wicked Witch menacingly approaches Dorothy and Glinda:  "Who killed my sister?  Was it you?"  She closes in on Dorothy.Dorothy (trembling):  "No.  No, it was an accident.  I didn't mean to kill anybody."  Glinda, standing behind Dorothy, smiles at her warmly.  Glinda is unafraid and even confident in the face of evil.The Wicked Witch, clutching her broom:  "Well, my little pretty, I can cause accidents too!"Glinda stops the witch's threats by reminding her of her dead sister's magic ruby slippers.  The witch moves to get them, but they disappear, only to reappear on Dorothy's feet.  Wicked Witch:  "Give me back my slippers!"Glinda, in Dorothy's ear:  "Keep tight inside of them.  Their magic must be very powerful, or she wouldn't want them so badly." Wicked Witch:  "You stay out of this Glinda, or I'll fix you as well!"  Glinda throws back her head and laughs:  "Oh, rubbish!  You have no power here."  She waves the witch off with her hand...  "Be gone before somebody drops a house on you." The Witch, not comforted by the astronomical odds of a second house falling from the sky, looks up and cringes.Witch:  "Very well, I'll bide my time," pointing a green, gnarled finger at Dorothy, "I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog too!"Cackling evilly, she disappears in a plume of red smoke and fire.

After Dorothy is threatened by the Wicked Witch of the West, Glinda encourages her to get out of Oz as fast as she can.  Dorothy is anxious to return home, but admits she doesn't know the way back to Kansas. Glinda: "The only person who might know would be the great and wonderful Wizard of Oz himself." At the mention of the Wizard, all the Munchkins bow low to the ground. Dorothy: "The Wizard of Oz?  Is he good or is he wicked?" Glinda: "Oh, very good, but very mysterious.  He lives in the Emerald City, and that's a long journey from here.  Did you bring your broomstick with you?"  Dorothy laughs:  "No, I'm afraid I didn't." Glinda:  "Well, then, you'll have to walk.  And remember...never let those ruby slippers off your feet for a moment, or you will be at the mercy of the Wicked Witch of the West." Dorothy:  "But how do I start for Emerald City?" Glinda: "It's always best to start at the beginning.  And all you do is follow the Yellow Brick Road." She waves her wand toward the road.  Dorothy takes a few steps toward it and then turns back to face Glinda..."But what happens if I..." Glinda interrupts, with the only advice Dorothy needs: "Just follow the Yellow Brick Road." Glinda disappears in a pink bubble.

Dorothy and her new friend, the Scarecrow, are on their way to the Emerald City on an important errand.  Hungry, they take a short break to pick up some apples.  Just then, Dorothy discovers a strange sight...a man made out of tin -- baffling both she and the Scarecrow.  Suddenly, they hear a muffled sound coming from the Tin Man as he tries communicating.  Dorothy hears the words 'oil can.'  Looking around, they find an old oil can on a tree stump.  Scarecrow and Dorothy oil the Tin Man's mouth and jaw, and after a few squirts, the Tin Man is able to talk again.  Sighing with relief, he asks them to oil the rest of his body.  They quickly comply and do what they can to make him comfortable.  He reveals to them the reason for his painful predicament.  A year before, he rusted solid while chopping wood in the rain.  Dorothy and Scarecrow test his limbs to make sure they're working properly, as Dorothy pronounces him in perfect condition.

Dorothy, Scarecrow, and Tin Man are travelling fearfully through a spooky forest on their way to the Emerald City.  Suddenly, a lion appears from the forest and charges them, barking like an irritable pug dog.  Lion: "Put 'em up, put 'em up!  Which one of you first?  I'll fight you both together if you want." He boxes the air while Scarecrow and Tin Man cower on the ground below him.  Dorothy hides behind a tree as the lion continues his boastful threats -- until he notices the Tin Man is holding an ax. Lion, to the quivering Tin Man:  "Oh, pulling an ax on me, eh?" The lion moves toward Scarecrow:  "Sneaking up on me, eh?" He continues his pug-like barking to intimidate the two. Tin Man finds the courage to speak up:  "Here, here.  Go away and let us alone!" Lion:  "Oh, scared, huh?" The Lion turns his threats into mockery:  "Put your hands up, you lopsided bag of hay!"  Scarecrow's ego feels the blow:  "Now that's getting personal, Lion." The Tin Man is quick to appoint his champion:  "Yes, (to Scarecrow) get up and teach him a lesson!" Scarecrow stutters:  "What's wrong with you teaching him?" Tin Man:  "W-W-Well, I hardly know him."  Toto, feeling the need to protect Dorothy himself, begins to bark. The Lion turns toward him:  "I'll get you anyway, Pee Wee!"  He chases Toto around Dorothy's tree, forcing her out of hiding.  Dorothy's motherly instincts overcrowd her fears and she smacks the Lion across the face.  He immediately bursts into tears. Lion:  "What did you do that for?  I didn't bite him?"  Dorothy (scolding):  "No, but you tried to.  It's bad enough picking on a straw man, but when you go around picking on poor little dogs..." Lion (sobbing and twisting his tail in his hands): "Well, you didn't have to go and hit me, did ya?"  Scarecrow and Tin Man are now looking on with pity.  Dorothy:  "Well, naturally, when you go around picking on things weaker than you are...why, you're nothing but a great, big coward!"  Lion (still blubbering):  "You're right, I am a coward.  I haven't any courage at all.  I even scare myself.  Look at the circles under my eyes.  I haven't slept in weeks."  Tin Man helpfully suggests counting sheep.  Lion:  "That doesn't do any good.  I'm afraid of 'em." The three are left feeling nothing but compassion for the pathetic spectacle in front of them.  Scarecrow suggests taking the Lion with them to see the Wizard.  Dorothy agrees and asks the Lion to join them.  Lion (needing reassurance for his bruised ego):  "Wouldn't you feel degraded to be in the company of a cowardly lion?  I would."  The three quickly respond in the negative. Lion:  "Gee, that's awfully nice of you," as Dorothy pulls out a hankie to dab his eyes.  Lion:  "My life has been simply unbearable." Dorothy reassures him that the Wizard will help him change that.

Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion are at the Emerald City waiting to see the Wizard.  They are imagining what it will be like for the lion once he receives his gift of courage from the Wizard.  The Lion stands majestically, wearing a carpet for a robe and a broken vase for a crown. Dorothy kneels before him:  "Your majesty, if you were king, you wouldn't be afraid of anything?"  Lion:  "Not nobody, not no how!"  Tin Man:  "Not even a rhinoceros?"  Lion:  "Imposserous!"  Dorothy:  "How about a hippopotamus?"  Lion:  "Why, I'd trash him from top to bottom-us."  The three continue to test the lion with beasts that would previously have frightened him.  He quells at nothing.  They ask him how he would defeat all these foes.  Lion (turning forcefully and throwing off his robe):  "Courage!  What makes a king out of a slave?  Courage.  What makes the flag on the mast to wave?  Courage.  What makes the elephant charge his tusk...in the misty mist or the dusky dusk?  What makes the muskrat guard his musk?  Courage.  What makes the dawn come up like thunder?  Courage!  What have they got that I ain't got?"  He finishes his impassioned speech with that rhetorical question, which his friends quickly answer...  "Courage." Not remembering to keep up his brave persona, the lion laughs:  "You can say that again."

Dorothy, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, and Tin Man have travelled a great distance for the chance to have an audience with the Wizard of Oz.  They are invited to enter the great hall of his palace, but it looks foreboding, with its tall ceilings and long, long hallway.  Not a sound is heard but the echoes of their own footsteps.  Doubts and fears begin to set in as the foursome cautiously walk down the hall. The Cowardly Lion is the first to express his doubt:  "Wait a minute, fellas (Scarecrow and Tin Man jump at the sound of his voice)...I was just thinking, I really don't want to see the Wizard this much.  I better wait for you outside."  He turns to leave but is caught and turned back by his friends.  Dorothy reminds him that he has come along with them to ask the Wizard for courage.  The Cowardly Lion says he is too scared to make the request.  Dorothy (mustering up courage for her fearful friend):  "Well, then we'll ask him for you."  Suddenly, the Lion cries out.  They all look around for the cause, but see nothing obvious.  Scarecrow:  "What happened?" &nbsp Lion:  "Somebody pulled my tail!" Scarecrow:  "You did it yourself."  He points to the lions paws, which are clutching his tail tightly.  The four link arms and resume walking down the hall.  Approaching an ominous set of double doors, they are ordered by a distant, powerful voice to move forward.  Lion:  "Tell me when it's over!"  He closes his eyes as they walk the final few paces toward the room beyond.

Dorothy, Lion, Scarecrow, and Tin Man are in the throne room of the Wizard of Oz.  They see a giant, green, disembodied head floating over pillars of flames. The head announces majestically:  "I AM OZ, the great and powerful.  Who are you?"  The four tremble violently, unable to answer, as the Wizard repeats his question.  Dorothy steps forward hesitatingly:  "If you please...I am Dorothy, the small and meek."  She begins to explain the purpose of their visit, but the Wizard interrupts:  "Silence!"  She runs back to her friends.  Wizard:  "The great and powerful Oz knows why you have come."  He calls them forward, one by one, mocking each but giving none a chance to speak. Wizard (to the Tin Man):  "You dare to come to me for a heart, do you?  You clinking, clanking, clattering collection of caliginous junk!"  Wizard (to the bowing Scarecrow):  "And you, Scarecrow, have the effrontery to ask for a brain!  You billowing bale of bovine fodder!"  Wizard (to the Lion, who is pushed forward by his friends):  "And you, Lion...Well?" The Lion faints.  Dorothy is outraged for this treatment of her friends.  Her anger causes her to momentarily forget her fear and to scold the Wizard, as he again silences her.  He declares his intention of granting their requests. Wizard:  "But first, you must prove yourselves worthy..." They must bring him the broomstick of the Wicked Witch of the West!

Dorothy is being held prisoner in the castle of the Wicked Witch.  Toto escapes to get help and finds Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion in the forest, who are still recovering from the wounds of the witch's earlier attack.  The friends quickly realize, through Toto's frantic barking, that he is trying to lead them to Dorothy.  They chase after him, climbing up a dangerous cliff toward the castle.  Rocks fall beneath their feet as they pick their way along as fast as they can.  The Tin Man almost falls, saved only by his grasp of the lion's tail.  They come to a viewpoint of the castle and stop to make their plans.  The castle looks ominous, the whole atmosphere charged with evil and darkness. Scarecrow:  "Dorothy's in that awful place?" Tin Man (crying):  "Oh, I hate to think of her in there.  We've got to get her out!"  The Lion, trembling, points down below to the drawbridge of the castle where a troupe of fierce-looking soldiers are patrolling. Scarecrow announces suddenly:  "I've got a plan how to get in there." Lion (excited):  "He's got a plan!" The Scarecrow continues, to the lion:  "And you're going to lead us." The lion is astonished:  "Me?" Scarecrow:  "Yes, you." Lion (stuttering fearfully):  "I gotta get her out of there?" pointing to the castle, eyes huge with terror. Scarecrow:  "That's right." Lion steels his nerves:  "All right.  I'll go in there for Dorothy.  Wicked witch or no wicked witch...guards or no guards...I'll tear 'em apart." He appears reconciled to his fate for the sake of his friend..."I may not come out alive, but I'm going in there.  There's only one thing I want you fellas to do."  Scarecrow and Tin Man:  "What's that?" Lion:  "Talk me out of it."

The Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, and Tin Man have just helped Dorothy escape from a locked room in the Wicked Witch of the West's castle.   Chased by the witch and her soldiers, the four friends are soon trapped in a castle turret.  With their backs against the wall and soldiers (with weapons drawn) surrounding them, deliverance looks impossible.  Completely confident of her victory, the Wicked Witch threatens to begin killing them one by one.  She lights her broomstick to begin, "How about a little fire, Scarecrow?" and sets the straw-man on fire.  Acting quickly, Dorothy grabs a bucket of water to douse the fire -- and in doing so, also douses the Wicked Witch.  Suddenly and quite unexpectedly, the Wicked Witch begins to melt before their very eyes. She curses Dorothy: "You cursed brat, look what you've done!  I'm melting!  Melting!  Oh, what a world!  What a world!  Who would've thought a good little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness?"  With that, she completely melts and only a steaming pile of clothes remains.  Fearing retribution from the soldiers, the group is surprised to see them cheer and bow before them as conquering heroes.

Dorothy and her friends return to the Wizard after successfully completing his quest.  They have brought the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West and expect to receive the promised reward.  However, the Wizard now tells them he must think it over, commanding them to return the next day.  But after battling evil monkeys and a witch to do the wizard's bidding, they are understandably angered over his hesitation.  Though still in awe of him, they fearfully argue their case -- which ignites his wrath...  Wizard (a giant green head floating in flames):  "Do not arouse the wrath of the great and powerful Oz!  I said come back tomorrow!"  Toto runs, unnoticed, to a small curtain at the side of the room.  Dorothy:  "If you were really great and powerful, you'd keep your promises!"  Wizard:  "Do you presume to criticize the great Oz?  You ungrateful creatures!" Toto pulls on the curtain, revealing an old man furiously working mechanical controls and yelling into a microphone. Old Man (his back turned to the foursome):  "Think yourselves lucky that I'm giving you audience tomorrow instead of twenty years from now!"  Scarecrow is the first to notice the man and alerts Dorothy.  The man turns and sees that he is exposed. "Oh!" He continues for a few moments to keep up his pretence..."The Great Oz has spoken!"  he shouts into the microphone. He shuts the curtain, clinging to the impossible hope that they didn't see him.  Wizard:  "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!" Dorothy walks over to the curtain and pulls it back.  "Who are you?" she demands. He starts to reply into the microphone, but gives up and turns to Dorothy:  "I am the great and powerful...Wizard of Oz," he admits dejectedly. Dorothy (astounded):  "You are!  I don't believe you!" Her friends crowd around her.  Old Man:  "I'm afraid it's true.  There's no other wizard except me."  Dorothy:  "You're a very bad man."  Old Man:  "Oh no, my dear.  I'm a very good man...just a very bad wizard."

The Wizard has just left the Emerald City in his hot air balloon, accidentally leaving Dorothy behind.  Dorothy's only hope of returning home to Kansas is gone...until Glinda arrives on the scene... Dorothy (begging): "Oh, will you help me?  Can you help me?  Glinda (smilingly):  "You don't need to be helped any longer.  You've always had the power to go back to Kansas."  Dorothy (shocked):  "I have?"  Scarecrow (to Glinda):  "Then why didn't you tell her before?"  Glinda:  "Because she wouldn't have believed me.  She had to learn it for herself."  The Tin Man asks Dorothy what she has learned through her adventures in Oz.  Dorothy (thinking):  "Well, I...I think that it wasn't enough just to want to see Uncle Henry and Auntie Em.  And it's that if I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, that I won't look any further than my own backyard.  Because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with."  Glinda affirms that this was the lesson she was supposed to learn from all of her trials.  Dorothy's friends berate themselves for not having helped her find the answer sooner, but Glinda tells them that Dorothy needed to learn it for herself.  It was the experience that taught Dorothy, more than mere words could have.  Now there is nothing stopping Dorothy from returning home, where she now knows she belongs.
